When I saw the ENB changes, I went and removed the smoke nif from all my mods (Clean menu, dear diary, no smoke was removed all together, etc). When I was done, it looked like nothing was overriding the default smoke nif. Launched the game with latest ENB and the first thing I noticed, after I noticed the lack of ENB on my menu, was that there's not actually any smoke on the menu or load screens either. So I assumed Boris' latest changes that turns off ENB for main and load menus also just hides the smoke after it detects it and does the thing. Is that not the case?
No, the new ENB feature only turns off the ENB effects in start/loading menus, it's not for hiding the smoke. You still need this file to make the smoke mesh invisible.
Do I need this if I'm already using Dear Diary? I see Dear Diary already touches that particular mesh, but does it make it blank or does it make it invisible already, like this here mod?
Actually, the smoke in the menu is always a good clue to see if the colors and contrasts of an ENB are realistic or well adjusted. If the smoke in the menu looks like crap or unrealistic, everything else in the game will probably look unbalanced. It would be better if you set your ENB values correctly instead of deleting everything that doesn't fit. Don't misunderstand these are just my thoughts about it. :) Once you set the smoke in the ENB correctly you will never have problems with it again.
@2H34M I still think it's much better to adjust the ENB settings in game, especially considering ENB weathers support via ENB helper that utilized by many ENB presets novadays (main menu and load screens have their own separate weathers, so there's not much sence tinkering ENB parameters in the main menu). On ENB forum, Boris V. (ENB creator) said: "ENB do not work properly (on load screens/menu), invalid time, invalid shadows, invalid lighting, no data for depth effects and so on". Thats is the reason he decided to automatically disable ENB effects in loading and start menu. This new function will work out-of-the-box on vanilla game, but it will not work if you'll replace the fog mesh with the blank one. I tried to eplain this on the description page :D
Yes, the problem pointlighting setting was used in the loading screen, so with rudy for exemple or my lux preset sometime pointlighting can go to to 1.8 and it's super bright. It's a good thing boris disable the enb in loading screen like LE
