Just a heads up for (male) NPC overhaul and AI Overhaul users. Load up your mods via SSEEdit, right-click on Deceive Degaine, click "Apply filter to show Conflict" and let SSEEdit do it's thing. Once finished it will highlight the conflict. Go to that conflict and either make a patch via copying the mods into override or patch your already existing NPC_AIO patch. Then rename that patch to indicate that it patches this very mod too.
I checked AI Overhaul and Degaine's NPC record and my bashed patch took care of the conflict. Also, my AI Overhaul Synthesis patcher took care of it as well (making the same change as my bashed patch). Just an fyi to others.
Yes, part of the reason I made this mod is because I can't stand having a cluttered journal and wanted a way to avoid the quest without avoiding Degaine on certain playthroughs.

If Degaine is killed after getting the quest Steal the statue in the Temple of Dibella, the quest does not complete. Shouldn't it also work that way? I feel our Dragonborn should be able to respond to all questions with Fus Ro Dah as the answer. ^_-
Random thoughts: The custom voicelines are great. ^_^ Unfortunately, if the ESP is compacted and set to an ESPFE, some of the dialogue audio does not play. That's the fault of the engine, not this mod, however.
Just take note of the FormID of the infos before compacting, then replace them in the related sound files' names with 00000XYZ [where XYZ are the digits of the compacted ones.] There are only four of them, it should be quick.

To your other point: If he's dead can we really say that we completed his task? I suppose I could add a condition to fail the quest in that case so it doesn't stay active on your quest list.
@JU12000 Here's an example of the compacted mod, if you're interested. But I see that you edit the quest with a new stage and a script fragment, and that two of the infos also have fragments. If you don't add the scripts to the download package, the mod can't work for users.
Alright, got some time to fix the mod, scripts are actually in this time. If Degaine dies, the quest will fail and not sit around in your quest log forever. Additionally, the mod is now automatically an ESPFE so you won't need to bother with compacting. Let me know if you run into anything else :).
I've been in the LE world until about 3 months ago so I'm still not terribly familiar with ESLs as a concept. Before I give you a definite answer let me do some research and testing on my end. If it turns out it can be safely made an ESL, or an ESPFE, I may just go ahead and upload it in that format myself. For now, it should be safe to manually merge this mod with some other small ones in xEDIT.
Hi, there's a new version of the mod that you should get. It now comes as an ESP-FE so you won't need to flag it, it shouldn't contribute to your limit. Let me know if you have any other issues.
I would like to arrest degaine, that beggar is rude even after doing the mission, besides that I don't believe his lie that he is disabled due to injuries, the guy is a stalker so they don't want him inside the temple
