Forgotten Magic suffers from an issue of if you specialise in a magic field too much, the magnitude of spells grows to be grossly powerful especially when perks are taken into account, with 20% per point. While looking for a fix to the teleporting frozen enemies issue from ice spells (which can be downloaded here, along with some other miscellaneous fixes), I came across Excinerus's edit which they graciously gave me permission to upload for the sake of visibility.
What does this mod change?
Magnitude of spells per mastered spell reduced from 20% to 5%
Addition of -5% cost per mastered spell
Addition of 5% duration per mastered spell
Thus, mastering three spells from the Cryomancy section would give 15% longer spells, -15% cost reduction and 15% stronger spells, rather than 60% stronger spells. Original text from Excinerus' post on reddit: "One of the reason FMR becomes OP later on is how affinity is setup. While the concept of having some sort of specialization is great, it suffers from some flaws: Affinity buffs only magnitude; massively (20% per point). and with Fire Frost or Shock Affinity affects all other spells from other mods which can get way out of balance.
i found that it worked better if every point gave -5% cost +5%duration +5% magnitude instead. yielding at 5 points -25%cost +25Magnitude/duration instead of +100% magnitude."
As I did not make the file, I'm not entirely sure as to any potential bug fixes though things seemed accurate enough to me. Should any issues crop up, please let me know, though be aware that I'm rather inexperienced with modding and things beyond record edits in SSEedit are most likely beyond my grasp sadly!
