Follow the Installation instructions on the Description page, if you don't have a splash.png in the mentioned folders then just drop it in there. Open up MO2 and check if it worked. If not let me know.
I did follow the instructions. That's why I'm lost. I don't have a "splash.png" anywhere and even after I dropped it in the main MO2 directory (where the .exe is for it), nothing changed when I opened up MO2.
That's strange. How is your MO2 set up? Do you have a portable installation or do you have instances set up for different games?
I myself have instances set up for both SSE and FO4 which have separate folders located in AppData for each instance (one splash screen for each instance), meanwhile my MO2 root folder is installed elsewhere.
From the sound of it you may have instances set up like myself, since dropping the splash.png into the MO2 root folder on a portable install should work without any problems. MO2 with instances set up will search their respective instance folder for a splash.png on startup, not the MO2 root folder and if none is found then it'll display the default blue MO2 logo. From my limited testing that seems to be the case.
Check if you have a folder in C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\ called "SkyrimSE" or "Skyrim Special Edition" and if so drop it in there. If you have the "ModOrganizer" folder in AppData\Local but not a Skyrim folder in there, try putting the splash.png in there as a test. If there's no "ModOrganizer" folder there at all then it's out of the picture.
More than that I'm afraid I can't help you with, let me know how it went. If the issue still persists then I recommend you message the MO2 Team over on their Discord https://discord.gg/fPmrxuFZ
How would I know what type of installation I have? I just hit the update button from within MO2 each time there's an update. How do I even find an AppData folder on my PC? I'm the only user on my PC so I don't have a "username" in C:\Users
Not sure but easiest thing to do in order to find where the splash screen should go is to open up MO2. Click the Instance Manager at the top left corner (Red and Blue Arrows). Choose the Skyrim SE or the portable instance and you should see a bunch of directory paths on the right. Find the path called "Location" and click the explore button. That'll be the folder where you want to put the splash.png

I might make different options with all caps, No Skyrim SE text etc if users request it.Added 2 New variants to diversify the selection. If you would like to request one let me know, only requests that fit the current theme.
Enough said, don't forget to Endorse the mod if you enjoyed it.
