About this mod

This mod does minor surgery on the "In the Time of Need" quest so that the player can send the NPC in question to her death or save her without feeling arbitrary. Ver1.3 Makes changes to the player dialog in Swinder's Den to reflect the player having read the Wanted Poster AND the information in regarding Hammerfell after the war.

Permissions and credits
This mod does minor surgery on the "In the Time of Need" quest so that the player can send the NPC in question to her death or save her without feeling arbitrary. It is still TOTALLY up to you.

The Wanted poster will be near the 2 Alik'r that are in Whiterun  ....  You may have to look around.  Having the Alik'r give you the Wanted Poster would be easy but because they are initially disabled their quest alias don't fill without heroics.

Versions
>>>>>>>

Version 1.1 moves the Wanted Poster inside Whiterun where it is much more tolerant to loading this mod midgame. Version 1.0 is fine for a new game.

Version 1.2 Makes some changes to the player dialog with Kematu in Swinders Den to reflect the player having read the Wanted Poster AND the information in the Skyrim wiki regarding Hammerfell after the war. Still the same choices of outcomes. It would be nice to end this scene peacefully but alas Beth made that difficult.

Version 1.3 .... found a better spot for the poster

Requirements and File Information
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Indirectly requires the great mod "Total Character Makeover" or another mod that upgrades Saidia's face, not as an Master or requirement but for the quest changes to make sense.  In vanilla you can't really see the scars on her face clearly. This mod will still work without it but the vanilla character face texture is missing something.

Checked with SSEedit for ITMs and wild edits.  Meshes optimized for SSE
Simple install with NMM or MO2 ..... load after mods that change quest descriptions like "The Choice is Yours".

Doesn't require voice acting as changes are small.

Frequently Asked Questions (SPOILERS)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

1) Question: This mod interferes with my Gods given right to have the vile traitor Iman brought to justice and to make some coin!!!!!!!

Answer: No it doesn't .... it only puts a Wanted Poster up and modifies 3 lines of player text.  You can even roleplay this modified line as a way to trick Saida into trusting you.  You can still do whatever you want.

2) Question: This mod profanes the mighty Alik'r ...... how dare you!

Answer: Actually the Skyrim Lore police busted me and I had to dig into the CK.  Saaida openly admits that the Al'Akir are the ones looking for her and they are working for the Thalmor .... so these guys probably are Al'Akir but it isn't clear if the Thalmor directly hired them or a Redguard Noble House hired them as Kematu said but that House actually supports the Thalmor or just wants her dead.  The Thalmor seem like such asses that it is hard to see anyone supporting them, but who knows if the price is right.  Hammerfell just came out of a civil war so there is a good chance it isn't one big happy family.

So who are these Al'Akir anyway?

The game itself does a much better job of profaning them than I did.  They are so stupid they are almost willing to arrest any Redguard woman even without the scar. One of them has so little tact that they got arrested in Whiterun.  A real Warrior isn't only about swinging a sword.

The betrayal of Taneth happened about 30 years before Skyrim starts and Saaida doesn't look over 50 so if Iman did betray it happened a long time ago.  If the Al'Akir are looking for her they aren't very good at it.  Kematu states the "The resistance against the Dominion is alive and well in Hammerfell, and they want justice"  There is no resistance .... as the Lore Police pointed out "Hammerfell has been a sovereign nation since 4E 180 (20 years)."

It is impossible for the players avatar to get any factual information except what Ketmatu says and what Iman says in the game.  One or both may be lying. Kematu states the "The resistance against the Dominion is alive and well in Hammerfell, and they want justice" (directly from the ck)  despite that the war has been over for 20 years. This probably means he is lying or there really is still a resistance, and resistance implies that the Thalmor still have considerable power in Hammerfell...... so Iman could get a contract on her life for speaking out against them.

3) Question: This Mod violates Section 234.1 of Official Skyrim Lore

Answer: Lore isn't always accurate, sometimes by circumstance and sometimes by design.  The official lore of Humankind stated that the Earth was indeed flat for much of history.  Even publicly saying otherwise was risky.

4) Question: You just wan Iman to be innocent so you can marry her and have her have your Redguard babies. You are a fool for a skirt!

Answer:  Yes ..... you got me .... She had me at "Food, Drink  ..... Both"  .....  thats ripe with sexual innuendo.

5) Could you please take this half done quest and make it go somewhere interesting?  Or at least give the player some dialog options to express how helpless the player is in getting sufficient information to send a woman to death and perhaps gang rape along the way there.

Answer: Actually this was a great setup for a quest that involves more than hacking something to bits. I would love to do this, but the game is too buggy and the ck too primitive for me to invest the time to do this story justice.  Lots of things are broken in the new ck.  That said after testing and modding SSE is much closer to being workable.  I don't have access to the original voice actors and don't have the patience to recycle their audio files.

I have a script for finishing this quest in a compelling way and experience enough that I know what is possible withing the bounds of the ck and what is not...... if anyone with experience wants to give it a try post please.
