The runes are as follows, (Right to left, as is common for runes). Outer ring: Maj (may?) Loki guide me through* all of life's trials. Inner ring: Maj (may?) I face all trials with* Loki's cunning**
*correctly used the "th" rune, which is rare. this wasn't just run through a transliterate function. ** same with the "ng" rune
They are in the elder futhark which predate the "vikings" by a few centuries, but get used these days all the time for "viking" things. (when the "runes" used aren't just rune-like gibberish that is). As they are more straight forward and easier to learn than younger futhark, the "simplified" alphabet used in Scandinavia from the 8th century 'till well into the middle ages. In this case as an Atmoran shield, roughly equivalent to the migration period, they work fine.
Looks like "MAY LOKI GUIDE ME THROUGH ALL LIFES TRIALS", so it's not lore-friendly in the strictest sense. The whole shield is mirrored in the preview images, but judging from another comment, it looks like that may since have been fixed.

The Gods are pleased! For my part 1) "Viking" : "Pirate" 2) I wouldn't want this if it had a giant watermark across it...so there is that,
Any other milk drinkers care to white knight about 'muh' intellectual property for a personal use in-game object? Go put up a retainer on a lawyer, and maybe go outside. It is the mod authors responsibility to be considerate of intellectual property, and Nexusmods right to reject or object to things which threaten our collective use of the site. Otherwise BTFO, it's not your business.
Update: Would like to see the inventory preview and appearance while on a shield rack be consistent with what appears while equipped. It does not make nice 'wall decoration' like I had hoped.
I keep looking for this shield on back mod and I can't find it - can someone here let me know what that mod is that allows you to put your shield on your back when weapons are sheathed?
I received a similar comment from JS for my Raven shield, and he’s right
what I did was send off an email and just ask for permission to use the image. The artist was very nice and granted it. It’s not tough to do and keeps everybody happy.
