Version 1.7 reads the configured hotkey from your save, plus debug tracing was properly turned off.
Thanks to CommonDominator for coding assistance!
This is an ESL flagged .esp, not included in your 254 .esp limit.

    Used this extensively in Oldrim.
Scripting was updated to reflect changes, and it's working without a hitch
This is a mod that I might go crazy without.
Now we can all break out of the asylum.

This mod would be so much more useful to me if you could read more of the save name. After about 18-20 characters, it cuts it off with "..." even though there's still space on the screen where it could theoretically show more. Does anyone know if there's a mod that extends the character count there? Or maybe allows you to hover over a save and see the whole save name?

Hi, maybe you can help me - I can do named save, they are also in the save folder, but I don't see any of these saves in load-menu ingame for one character, only in the general load-menu. Is it possible to fix that?

You have to 'show all saves' because the character identity is encoded into the vanilla filename(which is obnoxiously long). I like to put the initials of the character into the filename for easy ID.

I hate to ask, but where exactly is this "show all saves" button? I don't see it under Settings within game menu. The mod appears to work, but I can't see any settings prior to the first save that I made with it.

Was having the same problem and literally just figured this out.
"Show all saves" is a save "filter" option in the main menu. You go to Main Menu -> Load -> Show All Saves (in the character select screen) -> it'll show all your saves, including the ones made with this mod.
I think it works this way because changing the file name removes the game's built-in way of matching saves to characters.
Weirdly enough, adding the "- Character" field as part of the "Default File Name" in MCM doesn't change the access process from the main menu, but in-game DOES hide all saves made without the mod hotkey.

      In case that was confusing:
Main Menu -> Load -> Show All Saves (shows ALL saves, made both with and without mod hotkey)
Main Menu -> Load -> [Character Name] (shows only saves made without mod hotkey)
In-Game Pause Menu -> System -> Load (shows only saves made with mod hotkey)

Overall, this is very confusing and I'd like to know EXACTLY WHY this is happening, because I might go insane otherwise.

I notice this requires SKSE64 but there isn't a .dll in the folder - so will this work with SkyrimVR with SKSEVR?

Ok tried it - it adds to MCM menu and I configure a key to open the text entry box - but there is no way to type into the box or exit because it doesn't call the VR virtual keyboard (and the physical keyboard won't respond) - if that line of code could be added it should then be available for VR users as well :)

With this mod active, on startup, I get this message: "SKYUI Check, SKYUI missing Some features may not be available."  SKYUI is of course not missing and loads before  this mod.

Thank you so much, just come back to modding SE and I was waiting for this for so long, one of the main things I missed from LE.

Mod doesn't show up in MCM, so I can't reconfigure the hot key. Is there a config I can edit?

Often, a mod needs time to register for the MCM.  There is a console command to force mods to re-register I am told:
           setstage   SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1

This has the same bug as other Jaxonz mods which is that they can have some difficulty interacting with SKYUI and can therefore trigger a warning message upon load. I was getting it every time I'd start. The warning box would say something like: Sky UI check / MISSING. Disabling this mod fixed it immediately. It did work (more or less, some minor issues) even with the annoying error message though.

Just thought I'd put it out there for anybody else who gets the weird SKYUI error box. I'm pretty sure the problem is in the BSA's interface folder which deals with SKYUI but I'm not sure how to fix it yet. I'll have to try some stuff when I have more time.

EDIT: Solution: I went into the bsa, removed the script for version checking and repacked the bsa. Quick and dirty but now no errors every single load.

The version check script looks only at FILENAME.  If you change the filename, of course it (incorrectly) says you don't have it.
Personally, I hate those scripts, so good work!
