I'm having an issue where either Skyrim base or Opulent Thieve's Guild spawns a static mead barrel on top of the table, making it impossible to pick up the last few stones. I'm not smart enough to make a patch, but the console points to both of those as having modified that particular barrel.
The bat file the guy below linked worked a charm, then the crown was large enough to pick up even with the barrels in the way.
Not to toot my own horn or anything, I really like the idea of this, as it is an annoying, tedious quest. Which is/was why I tried to find a quick and easy way to deal with it, without really having to download a mod, so I used Bat files, and finally recently made a breakthrough, which I then decided to upload, as it's literally just 2 bat files. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/47952?
The quest is, as mentioned, annoying and tedious, made worse by the fact that it has to be the actual stones, so you can't just console command to the cheat cell and grab them, as it has to be those specific 24 stones scattered around the Province...
Again, not trying to be like "ooooh, download my mod instead, blahblahblah", no. Just, honestly found it kinda funny how relatively shortly after my own upload a similar one (in terms of trying to solve the issue, though via different method) shows up. So, kudos to you man, judging by the screenshots you also have the crown for easy pickup, that I did not do (I find getting the crown much less tedious than all of the gems...). So good on you, man.
Awesome mod! It worked great for me but since I have https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/35910 , it didn't change the table and I had to disable JK's mod and finish using this mod first and then re enable JK's mod. The table remained moded but the rest of the interior was reverted back to the JK's interior design mod. This means you might need to finish this quest first before you apply other mods that change the ragged Flagon.
Well, this is always an issue when two mods edit the same area, they often require a patch but Simple Barenziah is a small mod no one knows about. I actually have an idea, but I need some time to investigate if it's possible or not. Thank you for your kind feedback anyway!
In case anyone was confused the mod works like this (note: I had the quest active and already picked up a few stones).
1. Install at any point during the quest. Doesn't matter how many you've already collected. 2. Go to the ragged flagon and activate the table to the right of the bar. However many you have left to collect, they will appear. 3. Talk to Vex, and go get the crown.
Worked fine for me with no issues. However since you will be collecting a lot of stones at once they do take a minute for the quest to update as you pick them up.
You don't need to wait a minute because that objectives (9 of 24 picked, 10 of 24 picked, 11 of 24 picked, etc) are visual-only, the quest script was already processed and you can talk to Vex. You can see a quest marker on her immidiately when you pick up the last gem, even if you see "16 of 24 picked, 17 of 24 picked, 18 of 24 picked...". The objective queue in HUD is really slow but the script is not.
What I gathered from the YouTube video is that once you have the "Go get the stones" part active in the quest, you use the added table and all the required stones spawns right there. Turn those in and when you have the "Go get the crown" part active, you just use the table again and the crown pops in.
Seems like a neat mod. I'll give it a try on my next playthrough.
You activate the table at any time, that's all. If you have no single stone, they still will be moved to the table. So you even don't need to find your first stone, you can pick it from the table (it will be "Unusual Gem" until you launch the quest). You also don't need to open journal to trigger something.
But what happens if I complete the quest but discover one of the real stones in the world. Will this quest start anew? Will I have a useless stone in my inventory? Can I pick them up at all? And is it safe to install midgame?
If you complete the quest thare're no more stones in the world. Stones on the table are real, they are moved from the world, not created. No new stones, no useless stone in your inventory, safe to install midgame.
Waiting for more comments to see if it has incompatabilities, but will definitely hope no one has issues. Collecting those stones is a pain and I hate being forced to go after some stones when I try to handle certain parts of the game at certain times.
I am curious about one thing with it. Every mod I've seen for that quest says they can only be activated after talking to Vex, so will this have the same issue?
That's not true. How in that case do you get your first unusual gem before talking to Vex? What about compatability, this mod is fully compatable with quest markers for the stones and any replacers/retextures. It doesn't change anything except the table and two barrels on it (they are disabled now).
The markers mod can cause a glitch where Vex will not speak to you about finding the other stones and even if you don't get that glitch, you may not get markers if it is activated before you talk to Vex the first time. This has been brought up by many people on that mod page. There have been other marker mods for this quest that had the same issue and there was even a Vex replacer that is long gone because it broke this quest and her extra jobs dialogue. Not sure why you thought I was insinuating that this mod had the same issues by simply asking a question, but I tend to ask questions about such things when there is a history of other mods disrupting the flow of a quest.
I didn't, really. I was playing with markers long ago and iirc there was no glitch for me. Maybe I'm just a lucky one. However, there is nothing to glitch in the "Simple Barenziah" because this mod doesn't change the quest, it only moves stones and crown.
Dagonborn ... I had one of my long-time characters named Dragoborn and didn't realize anything untoward for many months. (I guess I'll have to create brothers named accordingly.) --- [Not literally named "Accordingly" you understand]

Dont apologize for "Dagonborn" it's a good idea for a story...
