Came across this mod on your author page, imho an elven dragonborn would be impossible given that every Ysmir has always stood against elves. Shor/Lorkhan has always been inseparable from Dragonborns, gameplay (not locking players out of 4 and a half races) is the only reason why Skyrim wouldn't only allow you to choose human races. Lorewise, it's impossible to have an elven Dragonborn.
A theory is that as the Daedric Lord of Change, Dagon broke the rules regarding the Dragonborn, which is why Mankar Camoran became one. It can readily explain why an Elven dragonborn could happen in the future.
Akatosh is the source of Dragonblood/Dragonborn, not Shor/Lorkhan. You're thinking of Shezarrines. Yes, some Dragonborn were also shezarrines but Dragonborn/Dovahkiin are children of Akatosh, even the Greybeards and Paarthurnax tell you this. There are no race restrictions for someone to be dragonborn. Also, Ysmir is a title which simply means "Dragon of the North", that is passed to a dragonborn with both blood and soul of a dragon that have accepted the Greybeards guidance. Have nothing to do with killing elves, just those that took the title just so happened to kill elves lol.
Every customizable player character is a Prisoner, a being unbound by fate free to be anyone they want to be.MK told us this in 2008, and then Sotha Sil told us in ESO. The LDB absolutely can be an Elf, or any other race just like the Nerevarine. A lot of what you're touting is debunked fan theory.
Lorewise it's possible to have an Elven Dragonborn, there were two in history, Mankar and Queen Katariah, and lorewise it's factually true the PCs can be any race.
It's lore unfriendly to suggest otherwise actually.
Whew boy the posts here are two or three years old.
Anyway.
Mankar Camoran used CHIM to make himself a Dragonborn. He wasn't born with the ability to be one.
But yes. By the fact of being a player character, the Dragonborn can be any race, any gender, anyone. As someone else said, Dragonborn =/= Shor/Lorkhan. It's confirmation bias, most known Dragonborns have had a thing against elves, but it doesn't make them ineligible. Speaking of confirmation bias, the likely hood of Nordic/Imperial/Breton Dragonborns being found/acknowledged/using their abilities is far higher than that of a Mer or Beastrace.
Mankar (allegedly) used the Razor to make himself Dragonborn, he never achieved CHIM. At any rate, what others have said about Katariah and the LDB being a Prisoner is correct.
Meanwhile, if you do the dark brotherhood questline which is the canon version given how much dialogue it offers and time it requires. Impersonating the gourmet only works if you are a Bosmer, all other races lead to questioning by the other cook. So the Wood Elf is the only canon choice for the Dragonborn.
Nope, nothing in the "canon" or whatever that word means in TES indicates that only men can be dragonborn. The author is dead anyway (not the mod author duh) he died during the C0DA, thereafter the canon is what the beholder wishes, if you really want to believe this then fair enough. However there is no power on Nirn that says that applies to any other dreamer.
The lore you subscribe to is yours, and mine is mine.
There is no way to impose this other than it is the building blocks of TES universe. Broken Dragons, untrustworthy narrators and the Elder Scrolls themselves have made this abundantly clear. Thus only Nords can be dragonborn, or perhaps only Falmer can be dragonborn. Nirn is our oyster that no one else can touch.
And why keep subscribing to definitive canon? The idea should be thrown away for it is the bane of creativity and the herald of stasis. The inception of Mundus itself is balance between order and disorder, or canon and conjecture.
Auriel and Akatosh are one entity, not separate, its only the Mer and Man that argue/fight over it.
even if all dragonborns were human (which they weren't), it still doesn't mean that a Mer cannot be a dragonborn, since the Gift of dragonborn can only be given by the Father of time Auriel/akatosh. NOT Lorkhaj/shor. also Shor is dead and cannot bestow the gift of dragonborn.
now, as for Dragonborn's actual race. i would argue it is highly plausible that a Mer is actually the Dragonborn. why ? because this is the gift of Auriel/Akatosh. and which race is more attuned to the teachings of Auriel/Akatosh ?
Altmer most of all worship Auriel and believe in his teachings above all else (Xarxes and Syrabane are secondary to Auriel), Nords for the most part believe in Talos, and some still worship Kynareth, Imperials solely worship Talos, with very few still believing in Akatosh since the Alessia days, Dunmer worship the three Daedric Sisters, Azura, Mephala and Boethiah, bosmer worship Y'ffre and the Old gods of the Hunt, Khajit also worship Y'ffre and also Azura, Falmer are gone, but they also would've worshipped Auriel zealously, and they were the original inhabitants of Skyrim, Breton worship Julianos, Orcimer worship Trinimac/malacath, Redguards worship Stendarr,
Therefore an Altmer is the Prime Option to be the Dragonborn during the 4th Era.
Lorewise I wouldn't want to erase him from existence but I'd definitely want to kick his ass and lay into him for how he handled the Snow Elves. What the snow elves did was wrong yes, but It didn't warrant the eradication of their entire race. Even Kodlak said during the companions quest line "youve taken more blood than honor demanded".
hi sorry noob here! can these quest mods be installed and played together? :
Spoiler:
Show
Shezarrine - The Fate of Tamriel - Prologue - Fully Voiced Follower Livia Salvian - Daughter of the High Chancellor - Custom-Voiced Follower Livia Salvian - Revamped - Custom-Voiced Follower Death Consumes All - DLC-Long Quest Mod
can their .esp files be renamed manually to avoid issues maybe? thx
i love the implication. but the execution is a bit poor. shouldn't you buff ysgramor a bit more turning him into an all powerful master of many shouts and then teleport us into a specific area where nobody (and not the 3 heroes) can help the player as he/she fights ysgramor ?
also if you ever plan to do that, make it compatible with this mod from LE (i ported it to SE myself and would be happy to share it with you): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53581. this mod adds ysgramor's legendary armor and axe to him in sovngarde !

Bretons man..
RIP AND TEAR, Until it is done
Ysmir is a title bestowed by men, not gods - the history of the title isn't cosmically binding.
