It's been brought to my attention that in very rare instances, the esl flags on the plugins can cause CTD's on load. If you experience this issue, you'll find in the optional files a fomod that'll let you replace the plugins from this mod you have installed with regular esp's.
Big thanks to Nexus user demondad who brought this issue to me, and helped me troubleshoot this problem.
It says this mod is missing masters from Melodies of Civilization. I installed MoC Personalized Music version which doesn't come with an esp. What do I do? Install vanilla version of DG music overhaul? Or install just the esp from standard version of MoC and implant it somewhere?
edit: nvm, I decided not to use Personalized Music, some people say it's outdated and I don't really need it that much to risk stability
Hey OrganicView :) Had a quick question - I downloaded the main module of this mod for Melodies of Civilisation and have the Replacer version of Melodies (without the "main version" file, just like I do with Around the Fire and Still). Vortex is showing it as missing the melodies esp. Is that an issue? (Not using any other music mods apart from yours)
If you use the replacer version of Melodies, you should use the vanilla version of this mod (since the replacer replaces vanilla tracks, there are no new tracks to patch at the plugin level)
Dudes'll listen to this and think, "hell yeah" (it's me, I'm dudes. These tracks are amazing man I can't wait to try them out in my next dawnguard playthrough!)
Bes Music Mod ever made for skyrim. Man you did an amazing job with these soundtracks! Considering Skyrim is never old enough to be modded i wonder if you will add more music at some point? =)
Just want to say you, and the artists you've worked with, have done some truly amazing work. Truly amazing.
I feel like when people think about Skyrim Modding, or when Youtubers make videos showing off their overhauls, they only show/mention the usual visual overhauls, maybe some gameplay overhauls, new enemies/npcs, etc. But no one ever really mentions the music. Audio? Like sound effects? Sure, sometimes. But the actual soundtrack? Very rarely. Actually, almost never. And you know what? It's a damn shame, because music is such an incredible thing that everyone connects with. It can convey so many emotions, tell a story of its own. Music truly is an amazing thing and it really helps create an immersive and compelling experience, whether paired with another form of art, or even just by itself.
I've only recently found your mods, and I've listened to all of them, up to your very last one; Dawnguard. Each playthrough I do, I'm always improving. Finding better visual mods, better sound effect mods, discovering sneaky vanilla textures that my prior mods never covered and then finding mods to cover those. Testing different ENB's. Each playthrough is a different experience. But one experience that I'll never forget is my experience with Dawnguard. Maybe it's just personal taste, but the vampire/hunter aesthetic, the journey of treading down a dark, unknown path with vampire mommy by your side the entire way through, discovering a large scale plan involving Auriel's Bow and the Sun, and then finally making it to the Forgotten Vale? Ah, thee ole Forgotten Vale and that majestic soundtrack. Truly a unique experience.
Basically, what I'm getting at is your soundtracks are amazing. They're composed in such a professional manner and stick true to vanilla better then any other music mod I've listened too (most of them aren't custom made like yours are, they're usually just random soundtracks off the internet or something). It's been several months since I last did a complete playthrough (not just random mod testing or DLC mods), and listening to your Dawnguard soundtrack has me totally excitement to get back into my next playthrough and experience Dawnguard yet again.
I love that you provide an option to either add the music onto vanilla, or completely replace it. Me personally, I'm going with the replacer for the full immersion on the new playthrough with all new soundtracks. And the fact that you even added unique boss battle music for Harkon? That's awesome. It was always a little underwhelming to me when you're going into an epic fight but then you get basic combat music. So huge thank you for that.
I know you mentioned recently that you've dabbled a bit with the idea of doing the Dragonborn DLC but sort of lost the spark to do it. And I totally get that because creating such epic music can take time and suck the creative brain juices from you. But I just wanna be one of many to say that, should you ever get that spark back, we'll be waiting. The idea of having a AIO package covering Skyrim and the DLC, with a special boss battle song for Miraak, and maybe even one for Alduin? Truly epic.
Anyways! I guess I can sum this all up by saying thank you so much for creating awesome music! :D
Thanks for passing by and for the very kind words! It always means a lot when people take the time to come back and share how the mod and the music made them feel.
Creating all those music mods for Skyrim has been awesome, and it allowed me to to grow a lot as a composer. Come September, I'm looking forward to doing the same with Starfield. But I don't think that means that I'm done with Skyrim (in fact, I'm planning to make another big playthrough before Starfield is out). Whether this results in new music remains to be seen, but that's the plan right now. I'm lacking time rather than motivation. And even in the longer term, I don't see myself stop playing Skyrim for long at least until ES6 is out, that will almost certainly mean more music :)
Any chance you're working on a Dragonborn DLC music overhaul for Solstheim?? Your mods are incredible, and I can only imagine how good it would be if you made music that fits in the TESIII:Morrowind/Dragonborn DLC set list. Something unique and Morrowind like, with maybe a little Nordic influence, to really hit home with that Dunmeri culture on a creepy and dangerous border island between Morrowind and Skyrim. A place once graced by the presence and adventures of the great Nerevarine, and now, by the Last Dragonborn.
Thanks for the kind words ! I've thought about it (and even have a couple WIP tracks for it), but I'm not actively working on that right now. That might change next time I catch Skyrim fever
