I'm just going to  let the fireplace smoke immerse through the straw roof :)

Yeah me too.  lol.  One of these days when I get a chance,  I will go into the CK and add a chimney for immersion.  Its been a while since I played with the CK but I will watch a video on how to place an object on a building and hopefully its a quick and painless process.  This way everyone can be happy that there is one on top of the roof.

There are a number of vanilla locations in this game that beg to be repurposed, this is one of them. Thanks for your work!

      Immersion coming right up!

If we're talking Viking-esque Norse people, a small, modest house like this would be made with either wattle-and-daub or, in some regions without much wood, stone could be used, mostly for the foundation. Similar houses have been built by many cultures from the Neolithic onward. A turf or straw roof (thatch) is a main feature of these houses, but it had to be maintained and protected.

The two main protections for a thatched roof were cooking with a modest fire, rather than a big roaring fire (middle position) &  no chimney or smoke-hole.  Here's a few reasons why that is:

      1. It stays warmer in winter - the warm air heated by the fire doesn't escape.

      2. Without an updraft through a chimney/smoke-hole, any embers won't be blown up to the thatch.

      3. The warm air under the thatch will help keep the thatch dry.

      4. The smoke will deter insects from living in the thatch.

SO! There you have it! IMMURSHUN X2! Take yer chimbley and stuff it :)

Kudos to Jokerine for making a modest player home. It's a nice change from the cluttered mansions we usually see. Sometimes "less is more". Thanks for porting it over. Endorsed.

Noted.  I don't use any CC stuff in my game so someone would have to make a patch for it and I can post it here on files tab. Sorry

Simple and straightforward: one radiant quest and you find a house that is not ridiculous or too remote. Endorsed.

Very nice! thanks for adding this mod to yet another place that Beth neglected, after offing the bandits it's a nice reward.

Thanks for the nice words.  Jokerine did a great job on it and the chest has some nice goodies once the bandits are dealt with.

Just want to say I forgot I installed this mod, and a radiant quest sent me there. Buncha bandits popped around a rock and I almost died. I love it when something unexpected happens after 2k hrs in game. Thumbs up. Great mod!

Yeah those bandits that Jokerine moved surprised me too when I went to go test the mod.  I came around the corner and they blasted me.  Glad I had a couple of my companions with me to help me out.  Glad your enjoying the mod.  Have fun.

Its good to see stuff like this happen, but yes a lack of chimney and the one issue for me...mannequin, get rid of it. Why should i have to get another mod to fix a common issue with these horrible things.
Or at least have the option to remove it, other than that, i'd like to see more of these derelict cabins/cottages have some option of being able to rebuild them into player homes.

Technically you could disable the mannequin via the console if you don't want to bother with the mannequin fix mod.  Not everyone has the mannequin bug.  If you don't then no need to install it.  One of these days,  I might get around to adding a chimney

Aside from the chimney issue this is actually great. Immersing as a lone mafk

Quite good, but I'm gonna be that guy and say, it lacks a chimney :P

Basically everyone living inside will die of carbon monoxide poisoning. Enjoy your immersion :)

Oh yeah sure enough,  no chimney.  Didn't pay attention to that fact but yes,  those inside would croak for that reason unless you left the door open but then you freeze overnight.  I guess Jokerine forgot to place a chimney or she just overlooked it while making the cabin.

It's all good, many people overlook it :P.
Honestly, I was one of those guys until someone told me and spoiled my immersion. Now I can't unsee. And I'm forced to spread the curse. In the name of enlightenment!
