HI, you can backport. SOme mods liek CWO redux have been backported to oldrim https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/6a3lv5/how_does_backporting_work_from_sse_to_skyrim_32/
That thread you linked provides more evidence against backporting than it does for it. Arthmoor, who I consider the top authority on these topics, is adamant that backported mods can cause serious issues. The only person advocating for it is opusGlass, and even they acknowledge that it is not 100% safe, nor do they sound entirely confident in their argument. Every other commenter is saying it doesn't work or is just guessing as to how it could.
I honestly did not notice an ISC patch on your page when it was first uploaded, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered publishing this. Have you had one from the start?
Yeah, I've had one from the start. Not a problem to have two pages for it, though, was just wondering if I had messed something up (causing you to make a new patch).
tested this pretty thoroughly, and from what i can tell this makes no difference at all. sound effect are still being reverted to pre ISC magic sounds no matter where this esp is placed for me.
I just double checked the plugin and all the sound records are properly carried over. Have you tried checking in SSEEdit to see if anything is overwriting? Also, did you make sure the plugin is enabled?
plugin is enabled and loaded after odins, only thing related to either loaded after that is the odin-ordinator compatibility patch. I havent checked in sseedit yet but its possible that patch may be reverting the changes. I'll try loading yours last.
Yes - I just tested in-game and the patch works as intended. During testing, OP, I noticed that some of the sound changes are pretty subtle. If changing your load order doesn't solve your issue I would suggest listening to the Hysteria spell with the patch enabled/disabled. ISC gives it custom Illusion sounds (some whispery chanting and whatnot) and without ISC it just uses fire spell sounds. I recommend trying this as you may have just tested some of the more hard to notice ones.
