yeah you know.. when loaves of bread and Juniper berries cost 50 gold per piece, Talos forbid he asks for one more coin as you "generously" Flip one lousy coin towards him. This economy is straight outta oblivion, Milkdrinker.
Your mod reminds me of a time... I once gave a beggar a loaf of bread I'd just bought in the shop. He asked if I also had butter! I said you got free bread, now you want butter? What the hell? You want a knife and fork and dish too?
He got really offensive which made me mad, but I just walked away.
Not all beggars will shut up when you give them something, they only get worse.
Well they became beggars for a reason, I feel like many have some sort of addiction or mental illness which doesn't make them the most decent or socially adept people out there. Though I've had some good experiences helping people.
Yeah, I gotta say this seems to be more of a mod for convenience than for immersion. Real beggars can quite often get really obnoxious about trying to get more out of you once they've realised you're willing to give them something. I'm reminded of Gaenor back in Morrowind (Mournhold expansion), who just keeps asking for more and more money and eventually ends up attacking you anyway.
I think the game should have had an option to offer them food as an alternative to coins... as I usually find that an easier way to shut them down without being overtly rude.
Yes, sorry, the 1.1.0 version should now cover all the dialogue. Let me know if I missed anything else though and I can fix it. Thanks for letting me know! :)

hmmm.... Did not test in game, but a quick look in xEdit, Brenuin's entry does not have Player.HasMagicEffect condition? Narfi, Dervenin, and some of the RiftenHellos entries also don't have the condition added. But maybe some of them are by design (i.e., not really begging)?
I left some dialogue unrestricted if it doesn't really have to do with begging (eg. Edda's dialogue about Riften being dark). I only added the condition to dialogues that I felt wouldn't make sense for them to say right after the player donates money to them (eg. Edda's dialogue about no one caring about them).
Brenuin's dialogue is split into three different forms in xEdit because the dialogue is separated into "Hello", "Goodbye", and "Idle" subtypes. The hellos and goodbyes don't make sense to add the condition to, so those won't have it. The idle dialogues (under form 000D11FF) have to do with begging, so should have the condition. It's a little confusing with it spread out all over the place. :) Let me know if you see anything else that doesn't look right!
No problem. You are right about those lines if they are not actually begging. I went through the items real quick, and found the following that should have the condition added but do not? But I've not played through all of the beggers so I might be wrong about the context around those lines. So you be the judge.
[INFO:0002BD04] ('Please, take pity on an old madman!' in GRUP Topic Children of [DIAL:0002B8A6]): Is this not about asking for coin? [INFO:00034FEE] ('I'm not too proud to admit that I need a bit of help from time to time.' in GRUP Topic Children of WindhelmHellos [DIAL:00034F93])
Yeah, so my reasoning on leaving the condition off those lines is this:
Dervenin’s dialogue about taking pity on him is more about him seeking help for his associated quest than asking for money. His character is meant to be mistaken for a beggar, but that’s not his true nature. So money isn’t his motivation in asking for help, meaning giving him some shouldn’t change how he acts.
With Angrenor’s dialogue about not being too proud to accept help, I felt it was him acknowledging his situation, not actively asking for money. To me it makes sense for him to say that after you’ve given him something - he’s just saying he knows he needs help, which is why he accepted it. His character is a reluctant beggar, forced into it by his situation and not necessarily by choice.
By the way, I left a forum post on your Reading Improves Speech - USSEP Patch mod (found through your user profile and decided to add RIS to my load order), suggesting you do a RIS patch for LOTD (which has Book Covers Skyrim built in), if you would like to. In fact, you can do a RIS patch for Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library as well, which is not included in LOTD.
I have a bit of an opposite problem from the previous poster. My first installed version was Grateful Beggars - RDO Compatability Version.esp. The upodated version of the same file is now Grateful Beggars - RDO Version.esp.
Can I rename it to match or would that mess things up?
Yes, you can just rename the .esp to match what you originally loaded for your save game. It shouldn’t break anything. The only issue is that you will have to continue to rename the plugin for any future updates you want to use with that save. But I’m not currently planning any, so you should be fine. :D
Sorry, that’s my fault. I must not have matched it correctly with the original esp when renaming my edited base file. It’s not an intentional change. I’ll re-upload it with the correct file name.
Oh I'd love a version of this mod or an entirely new mod that is compatible with this one that lets you give a custom amount of Septims and maybe even unique dialogue for the amount given!
Not to blow the mod up into something large, but it would be nice to have a gift-giving mechanic in general. Points for being able to give money and high-value items. Even more points if you can make it so certain characters are more appreciative of items with certain keywords (like this person loves food, this one loves armor, etc.). It would be a fun way to increase the player's relationship rank with other NPCs.
To give different amounts, I imagine reusing the training prompt scripts could work (modified obviously). The charity buff, instead of having static value, should have a logarithmic scale (approximated, obviously, use the function float pow with a negative value).

Edit: Should be fixed now.
Mind you, I'd probably not be too happy either if someone only gave me one septim : )
You're right though - Bethesda really didn't make it so you could be generous! Changing that might have to be my next project. :)
If I can make it work, being able to give beggars food would be a cool feature too. I’m not very experienced creating mods yet, so we’ll see.
