PLEASE NOTE: All if these patches were created for MR version 2.0.  The salary patches and smelter mod are completely unnecessary in 2.2, as Darkfox127 incorporated those changes.  The other patches may or may not work with 2.2–I haven’t tested.  I’m leaving these here for those who still play with 2.0.  Updated versions may eventually be uploaded.

I really like darkfox127's mod, Millwater Retreat.  The author put a ton of time and effort into creating not only a nice player home, but a business for the player to run (hopefully with a profit!)   As with any really large mod, there are a few small glitches that need to be fixed, a few oversights (IMHO) and room for a few improvements.  To that end, I am publishing a serious of small patches and mods for Millwater Retreat:

  • Salary Patch: As many have posted on the mod's page, the fisherman and lumberjack's salaries always end up being 400 septims, no matter the outcome of the persuasion attempt when they are hired.  This should take care of that.  I have also created a major overhaul of the entire financial system of Millwater Retreat that allows you to adjust salaries through an MCM.  That mod can be found here.
  • Millwater Smelter: A small patch that shifts things around in the courtyard with the forge to make room for a smelter.  It seemed strange to me that it had everything else, especially given the amount of iron needed to finish the construction.
  • Hearthfire Harmonization: Another small patch to bring the recipes from Millwater Retreat more in line with the standard Heartfire recipes.  This patch only addresses crafting stations--tanning rack, grindstone, armor bench, alchemy table and enchanting table.  Because it restores the grand soulgem requirement for the enchanting table, it also removes the option to have the carpenters build it for you.
  • CFTO Compatibility Patch: Adds a ferryman to the dock at Millwater and links it to the other ferry locations on Lake Ilinalta that are part of Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul.  REMOVED TEMPORARILY until I can fix the CTD issues.
  • Riverwood Forest Compatibility Patch: I consider Riverwood Forest to be an essential mod and won't play without it.  It is a very large mod that covers the whole area around RIverwood, adding wonderful content and details.  It does, however, conflict with Millwater Retreat.  I created this patch to try to harmonize the two.  I tried to remove from Riverwood Forest only what was necessary to preserve the integrity of Millwater Retreat.  It was still a lot.  The first version had a lot of floating objects, tears, and clipping.  This version is much better.  If you find more issues, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Optional:
  • Salary Adustment: If you hired Borik and/or Xurzei before installing the salary patch and are now incorrectly stuck with a 400 septim salary, the salary adjustment patch will change them.  Install it, load the game, and verify that the salary has changed by checking the ledger in the office.  After that, you should be able to remove it, as it is a single script that runs only once.
  • Hearthfire Lumbermill Patch: If you have already hired Borik, this patch will allow you to purchase sawn logs from Borik or cut your own at the sawmill (Borik is guaranteed to allow this--it IS your mill, after all).  Install it, load the game, and verify you can cut your own logs.  You MAY need to visit your house then return to the mill if it isn't working.  Once you have verified it works, you should be able to remove this patch, as it is a single script that runs only once.
If you run into problems with any of these patches, please contact me and I will do my best to correct them.

Up next: a patch to get sawn logs from Millwater sawmill for construction at other sites.
