About this mod

This patch fixes the removal of the altar at Ritual Site north of Lakeview Manor. It also disables the warlock from vanilla which gets added to the area. This warlock was originally disabled by 3DNPC in favor of Carmella and her skeletons. There's also some more mini-fixes here to ensure you get the best of both worlds.

DESCRIPTION

This is a compatiblity patch between Hearhfire Extended and Interesting NPCs SE (3DNPC).

Both mods alter the Ritual Site location north of Lakeview Manor, additionally - Hearthfire Extended allows you to remove the altar.
If you remove the altar while the 3DNPC Carmella is still located at the site, things will start to look a bit weird and will most likely break your immersion.

If you complete the quest Bards, Beasts, and Beauties, Carmella will leave the Ritual Site (altar) but all her stuff as well as the skeletons will remain there. So even now, if you remove the altar, things will float in the air.

In vanilla Skyrim, if you visit the Ritual Site - there will be a hostile warlock there. This warlock usually bothers people up at Lakeview Manor, so Hearthfire Extended solved this issue by allowing you to remove the altar, thus also removing the warlock, but if you use both 3DNPC and Hearthfire Extended, the warlock will spawn and potentially bother Carmella and her skeletons.

The scene when you talk with her or meet her will make less sense, that's probably why 3DNPC disabled the warlock in the first place. The warlock wont exactly attack Carmella, but the skeletons can start to fight and thus get attacked and potentially killed.

This patch fixes these issue by doing the following things:

  • There is now a requirement in order to remove the altar. You have to complete the quest Bards, Beasts, and Beauties, then you will get the option.
  • When you remove the altar, everything added by 3DNPC to the area will also be removed (skeletons, soul gem fragments, cooking pot, etc).
  • Carmella now owns the sword you find at the altar, as originally intended by 3DNPC.
  • The warlock will never spawn at the ritual site.

WHY DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE QUEST?
This requirement is set in order to ensure Carmella is gone from the area before you can remove it.
If you remove the altar while Carmella is still located there, she will sandbox and lean in the air and pray to nothing.

So I set the requirement. The altar in itself, with 3DNPCs changes, is not really a problem to have there at all. I figure the whole reason for it even being an option to remove in Hearthfire Extended was to get rid of that annoying warlock which resides there in the base game.

We could potentially relocate Carmella and edit her packages, but that will cause more issues than it fixes.

TO SUMMARIZE (TL;DR)

Basically, with this patch, that warlock which spawns at the altar will never spawn, and if you wish to remove the altar north of Lakeview Manor, you can do that without issues now after you have completed Bards, Beasts, and Beauties.

Compatbility

If you use Interesting NPCs SE - Alternative Locations, do not use this patch.
This plugin changes some of the same stuff this patch changes and will most likely cause issues if used together. I have not tested this stuff out yet, but at least one of the issues I can imagine is the fact that you'll have to complete that quest which now makes no sense since Carmella and her skelly bois are moved.

Also, any other plugin which changes the Ritual Site close to Lakeview Manor is incompatible.

Installation and Load Order

This mod requires Hearthfire Extended and Interesting NPCs.

This patch contains an .esp file flagged as .esl, so it will not count towards your total max plugins in Skyrim.
Install with a mod manager of your choice, I personally recommend Mod Organizer 2.

Make sure the patch (Melk-HFE-3DNPC-Patch.esp) loads after both 3DNPC and Hearthfire Extended, or else it will not work.
If you have any water mods, make sure this patch loads before them.

Optional Download for Realistic Water Two users:
I have incuded an optional version which forwards Realistic Water Two changes in the area, this way, you can place it even lower in your load order if you want. This version, of course, requires Realistic Water Two.

Safe to install mid-game. Altrough you probably should not have the altar already removed, that's one thing I haven't tested yet but my guess is that the patch will remove the remaining stuff as well so it will work even then. If it does not, please let me know.

Also, thanks to Kris Takahashi and the team for creating Interesting NPCs!
