Tried doing the CRU method and doing a custom res. My laptop doesnt like it and black screens for the same amount of seconds it takes for it to auto revert back to the previous res setting.
Wait, i konw that hz doesn'T affect fps, but if i set max hz at 240 from display setting, can that possibly affect my in-game max fps? So lowering it would increase my in-game max fps? Is that for any game? I feel like thats what you are saying and i never heard about this one anywhere.
no it will not affect your game play if you make your computer run high in fps. you would only want to cap your fps if your pc is not the best to have like a constant fps then a fluctuating one
Thanks, it was interesting to read, Sthaagg! I personally play 1920x1080 or 1600x900 in front of 42 inch TV at ~8 ft and almost see no difference comparing to 4K. Just giving a kind advice to good people here - do not play in 4K, at least until you play on PC Monitor at small distance from eyes on nice PC. The reason in surprising and simple: PC heats much stronger when playing 4K. Don't torture you rig and it will not make huge SCHHHHHH sound Took your advice to enable scaling on GPU for nVidia
Nice! I've got a 2560 x 1440 monitor, and using your guide, changed it to 2560 x 1200 and got myself a cool ultrawide display when playing Skyrim! In fact, the blurriness is not even noticeable! Got myself a 3 to 5 extra fps too!
Practical and informative. I am aware of many of these techniques already, but presenting the guide as such makes the concerning optimization less abstract and more coherent.
Would you perhaps have any information on the iVSyncPresentInterval (SkyrimPrefs.ini) and pre-rendered frames (Nvidia Control Panel) options, and their relationship to resolution/performance?
iVSyncPresentInterval enable or disable Vsync, i suggest you to use SSE Display Tweaks instead, you will get a better control and result. pre-rendered frames shouldn't have a noticeable performance impact but can increase input-lag, i suggest you to set it to 1.
I play on samsung UE55KS7500 which has Game mode but only if game res. is 4k. Lots of game details are OFF and or medium. The only problem i have is flames from candles and any source of fire. If u know any tricks for that, it would be great.

83% of 4k with 40-60 fps is still good enough for my setup^^
