DESCRIPTION
Dragon mounds are strewn about Skyrim. Over the course of the main quest the dragons that were buried there are resurrected by Alduin. At least, that is what the vanilla game implies but does not actually happen (two scripted encounters excepted). Dragons Awaken adds unique named dragons that appear once the dragon mounds are opened. You probably never noticed before but not all dragon mounds open at the same time. It depends on how far along you are in the main quest.
All dragon mounds have a map marker, are counted as a possible locations for radiant quests, and are marked as cleared when their dragons are vanquished. There are 26 dragon mounds. The dragons do not respawn when killed so you can actually rid Skyrim of dragons when combined with a mod that disables random dragon encounters. I recommend Timing Is Everything to reduce the frequency of random dragon encounters.
Dragons Awaken is NOT a dragon difficulty mod. It does not modify the dragons themselves. It only places some in the world. That is why it is compatible with other dragon mods.
Warning: Do not flag the plugin as ESL. I've tried it and it will cause crashes.
