could somebody please upload their file to fix this? im no modding noob but these directions are confusing. following Relikane's guide:
extracting the bsa inside Chesko_WearableLantern - Textures.bsa with BSA browser results in a split second pop up and then nothing happens.
using bsa extractor will extract the files, though they are all .dds files. there are no nif files to run though nif optimizer. bsa extractor used: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/974?tab=description
telling nif optimizer the folder location of the extracted files and tellin git to run results in this txt file being generated: ==== SSE NIF Optimizer v3.2.0 by ousnius ====----------------------------------------------------------------------[INFO] Options:- Folder: 'D:\ALL SSE modding\BSA Extractor\Output\textures\chesko'- Sub Directories: Yes- Head Parts Only: No- Clean Skinning: Yes- Calculate Bounds: Yes- Remove Parallax: Yes- Fix BSX Flags: Yes- Fix Shader Flags: Yes- Smooth Normals: No[INFO] 0 file(s) were found.----------------------------------------------------------------------Program finished.
Relikane's guide below seems like a troll post from how much of what i followed there lead nowhere. could be my own error or lack of understanding, i am not trying to be rude. this just seems like it is more complicated than it needs to be.
EDIT: found an alternative mod option! does not replace the lantern with SMIM version, but rather a different HD texture. in my opinion this is a bonus, just adds more variation to the world. link here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22120?tab=files&file_id=76190
first find this mod's mod folder>textures>chesko and copy address
(if you don't already know where vortex puts your mods) click the dropdown arrow beside "remove" to the right of the select mod >open file manager. should see 2 folders ,"mesh" and "textures". open textures> chesko then copy the address (for simplicity sake).(as you notice it's empty, not sure if this whole first bsa extraction step even matters, but it doesn't hurt to do this anyway) you're gonna later need to do the same for chesko wearable lanterns, if you were like me and downloaded it using nmm years ago then upgraded to vortex the texture.bsa will be in your data folder. if you downloaded it with vortex, follow the same instructions as finding the glass fix mod folder
run bsa browser> open (bottom left)> locate Chesko_WearableLantern - Textures.bsa >extract (not extract with folder) now since you copied the address path from the first step you can just paste it in the address bar here> selectfolder.
now run nif optimizer paste in the address bar>scan textures>optimize
thank you for this. the lantern and glass look amazing! However, one small issue: the metal loop that attaches the lantern to my back for some reason is a neon purple color, possibly a missing texture issue or something. do you have any ideas? thank you!
after testing further, it definitely is the metal loop that attaches the lantern to the body. when looking at it dead on, there are no issue. but wierdly, looking at the loop at an angle, makes it light up purple. i feel like it has to do with the light/shadow on it and it bugs out....
Same thing happens for me. The metal ring glitches out at certain angles and provides some weird texture flicking. Same happens with the small metal bit inside the lantern itself, it also glitches out and produces rainbow color effect at certain angles.
Texture issue? Mesh problem? Something like that I suspect.
Edit: Running the textures and meshes through the Cathedral Optimizer tool eliminated the issue, so my assumption was right. Seems like some assets were ported over from LE without being properly converted.
Hi friend, I "fixed" this problem by unpacking Wearable Lanterns' archive (BSA) files. I'm not sure why, but that helped the patched meshes find the correct texture for the metal loop. The meshes were pointing to the correct texture, however the texture wasn't being loaded in game or in nifskope for some reason.
Unpacking BSAs is fairly simple to do if you use Mod Organizer 2:
Right click on Wearable Lanterns in the mod pane and choose "open in explorer." Copy the file address of the mod folder.
Go to the "Archives" tab in the right-side pane where you see the plugin list.
Right click on Chesko_WearableLantern.bsa, choose extract.
Paste the Wearable Lanterns mod folder address in the address bar, hit enter, and click "select folder."
Repeat for Chesko_WearableLantern - Textures.bsa
then boot up your game and give it a try. Mine look great now!
Excellent Mod. Unfortunately, I have the same strange flickering. It occures when walking inside of shadowy areas. Where can I find the update of the missing texture? The timestamp in files is from January.
any more info on this kinda problem? i extracted the BSAs in MO2, ran the stuff through nif optimizer, which tbf idk wtf i'm doing with that so idk. i'm still getting the glowing ring
You dont need to extract bsas or anything. Just run the meshes that are included from the mod on this page through nif optimizer and it should fix them.
I really like the effect, but I too was suffering from the police car effect. Followed the sticky by Sthaagg (Thanks!) and no change.... then I went into the MCM and changed positions/re-equipped and voila fixed. Now it works in any position as well.
