for the skyui version error just disable version checking in skyui for map.
Any tips on disabling version checking in skyui? I've been Googling furiously for about an hour and no luck yet.
In case someone almost as clueless as me finds this, once Skyrim is up and running, press esc or whatever you do to bring up the main menu where "Quests, General Stats, System" are all across the top of the screen. Go under System and you should be able to find "Mod Configuration" in the list on the left. From there follow issam1979's instructions: Mod configuration > Sky ui > Advanced > SWF version checking.
I've been able to use the spell to add a map marker and then go to the map and edit it with a name & desc. I'm going to love this mod!
I'm new to modding, especially with a mod manager. Here's all the info on my setup I can think to list:

I can't seem to upload screenshots here, but I did find a way in MO2 to export my modlist & order in CSV format. Maybe useful to see a known-working load order with the versions of all these things (I trimmed out most of the Creation Club stuff that came with it from the copy/paste.):
