The resolution is to kill the Blades, indeed. As a matter of fact, it should be done the same with the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood as well. As for Imperials and Stormcloaks both are Dominion puppets. Neutrality looks like a better approach instead of taking sides. Or kill both leaders too. At some level, the whole point of the game is to show for you that no matter what you do, the human nature overall Skyrim spectrum of choices will always be there. And if it still not enough, the original script will be always coming back through NPC's insulting you. No matter how many times you save the world. That's why I don't play the DLC stories anymore, it is not funny. Yet, I have been more enthusiastic about stories developed by Skyrim users on Nexus than Bethesda itself. Perhaps one day, in another life, in another universe, the Skyrim Resolution is to decouple all these stories created to develop another game where Skyrim will be just a Daedric statue

Hello, i wanna ask if this mod is voiced? It can be with spliced or reused vanilla lines as long as it makes sense because silent dialogues kinda kills the immersion for me. Thank you.

It reuses vanilla lines where necessary. I don't do unvoiced dialogue, I also dislike it.

I always imagined the conversation unfolding a little differently.

Delphine: "Paarthurnax must die. If you don't kill him you'll get no further help from us."

Me: "Very well, I accept your resignation."

Delphine: *gasp* "What? You can't just..."

Me: "By your own words the Blades serve the Dragonborn. If you are unwilling to serve I can recruit others. Enjoy your retirement."

Except the dragonborn is not a member of the blades.
The blades voluntarily server the dragonborn BECAUSE he is the ultimate dragonslayer.  If the dragonborn no longer slays all dragons, why would ANY member of the blade serve him?
Anyone that the dragonborn would recruit to serve him would not be a member of the blades, they would just be a member of the dragonborn fan club.  They could call themselves blades, but they would just be posers.

I would love this to be an option also ...Plus boot them out of the Temple, it is the Dragonborn's blood that got them in there in the first place, it's his Temple not theirs, I always wished he could give them the boot, instead of having him unable to use the Temple.

Delphine says "For the last two hundred years, we've been searching for the next Dragonborn to guide and guard, as we are sworn to do."  She certainly doesn't seem to mean that she intends to take any orders from the Dragonborn, from the way that she acts - indeed, the very choice of the word 'guide' (instead of 'advise') implies that the DB is considered a dependent rather than a superior.  But she seems to have it in for Paarthurnax specifically - I don't recall her making any demands about Odahviing's fate, after all.  Clearly the Blades don't insist that all dragons, without exception, must die.

Her dialogue during the quest has her essentially admit that she didn't care if Paarthurnax was a dragon when they needed his help, and it's only now that the Blades have nothing else to gain from him that he needs to die.
A dragon that answers your calls and fights your enemies is a weapon. The Blades will not have a problem with Odahviing as long as Odahviing comes when you call and helps you fight other dragons.
A dragon that has no external motivations and can't be used or manipulated is, to someone like Delphine, a dangerous threat whether or not they intend to attack others, because Delphine cannot trust Paarthurnax to sit on the Throat of the World forever. That requires trust that she's too paranoid for.

I don't think Delphine or Esbern ever served you. They fought dragons, and they were happy to fight alongside the ultimate dragonslayer as long as it was mutually beneficial. I'm not judging that as a value because that's basically the player's relationship with them; players only seem to have issues with the Blades policy of killing all dragons when the dragon is one they care about. Otherwise, you have access to a team of dragon hunters who will help you kill any dragon and make an anti-dragon potion. The dispute over Paarthurnax means it is no longer mutually beneficial for the player or Blades to work together - it's no surprise that this is when most people stop working with the Blades, unless you have a mod that negates the Blades' decision because you shouted at them.

Master Arngeir specifically warns you: "Beware - the Blades may claim to serve the Dragonborn, but they do not. They never have."

I say kick them out, telling them to not let the door hit their ass on the way out.  Then make a one time random event were you can find there dead bodies someplace later with a dead body of a Thalmor near them suggesting that the Thalmor still had a contract out on them and finally completed it, or discover there dead bodies at the top of The Throat Of The World with Paarthurnax looking down on them suggesting they decided to kill Paarthurnax by themselves and failed.

Perhaps something like this would suffice.

Delphine: "Paarthurnax must die. If you don't kill him you'll get no further help from us."
Dragonborn: "Well, then, perhaps you should start looking for another Dragonborn"

Delphine: "Paarthurnax must die. If you don't kill him you'll get no further help from us."
Last Dragonborn: "What help?  Most of our interactions have been me helping you!!"

They're not your employees. They were basically the Septim Dynasty's CIA before the Great War, and, after said war, they were voluntarily helping you mostly due to a shared goal (killing dragons). You're not the Septim Emperor (of which there isn't one anymore). You're not of the Septim Dynasty.

The Empire made a big song and dance of being ruled by "Dragonborn Emperors," but, just as most of its emperors were not actually Dovahkiin, most Dovahkiin are likewise not actually heirs to the Septim Dynasty. There is, AFAIK, very little chance that the LDB is a legitimate heir to the (now fallen) Septim Dynasty, even if they were they most likely have no way of proving it, and even if they did they're clearly not now and don't really have any de facto authority to "fire" Delphine or any of her Blades (and they are her Blades, ultimately).

Best case scenario, where the player character is someone who would have some actual claim to the Septim Empire if it still existed, it would be like Mikhail Gorbachev allying with some ex-KGB Soviet loyalists against Putin or something and then trying to pull rank and "fire" them when they don't listen to him.

That's exactly as it should go.

If they refute, then kick them out by force (or execute them, as they've proven subversive tactics and will likely cause problems in the future).

Continue the Blades without them or leave it to history.

or we could reply 'then i wish you the best of luck in your future endevours, unfortunately that wont be with the blades'  folowed by a scene of us literally punting them out of the door and slamming it shut.

      This is from UESP,

"The Blades, also known as the Imperial Intelligence Service, the Arms of the Throne, and as the Order of Blades, were members of an elite Imperial order dedicated to the protection and service of the Dragonborn Emperors of Tamriel. Descended from the Akaviri Dragonguard, who became the personal bodyguard of Emperor Reman I"

So technically, the Blades are the personal guard of the Dragonborn and are under his or her employ.

Also in the true lore of Tamriel the Dragonborn is the rightful Emperor. Unfortunately Skyrim doesn't follow the lore completely, in many places.

Well spotted casma164. Though there is an argument that the blades only exist to serve the Dragonborn, so by rejecting them you essentially disband the Blades, especially as there is no Dragonborn within the line of Emperors now to serve (now there's a seed of a grander story in TES-VI) as RadoGamer points out. Whatever the lore around the Blades and Dragonborn is, or argued about, the game quest and ending is poorly developed. It starts out well enough but then the ending is so loose and binary as to make little sense and undermines the whole dilemma it is suppose to provide.
Just like the Civil War storyline, this needed a 3rd option that was difficult to achieve, but allowed for a resolution between both sides with the Dragonborn as the nominal leader. ie: Leader of the Blades and High King of Skyrim. (which I understand there is a mod in development for)

Oh so you think The Dragonborn isn't a blades member? but yet at the same time you would have no problem saying Martin Septim is a member of the Blades who serve under him But overall The Dragonborn is a member of The Blades, Delphine and Esbern are supposed to serve under her just like The Blades In Oblivion Served under Martin Septim.

Does this mod alter the Essential status of Delphine/Esbern at all? If so, would killing them turn the 3 follower Blades hostile.

undoubtably it works. A useful trick, if you preview file contents and don't see a file ending with the .dll extension, the mod will work with all versions of special edition, anniversary included. Only exception is cell edits which directly conflict with creation club additions (not the case in this mod)

I haven't the slightest clue why but the misc quest 'Ask Esbern about dragon lairs' is forever stuck in the journal. I brought 3 followers to Delphine after which she tells us to talk to Esbern about the lairs, but no such dialogue options show up. I'm assuming this mod interferes in this regard? If so, is there any way to get that entry out of the journal?

I have a question about this mod. To get Paarthurnax’s infamous “is it better to be born good or overcome evil” (paraphrasing) quote, you have to talk to him after receiving the orders to kill him. In vanilla you can still walk away after that interaction.

Does using this mod remove the ability to get this quote from Paarthurnax? Could I talk with Paarthurnax, then go tell the blades I won’t kill him?

That is an interesting question. Would like to have answer as well.
Although what I can guess from description is that telling Delphine "yeah, nah, not happening" can be done safely after talking with Paarthurnax himself.
