It didn't make sense to me that your character could see the inner details of their helmet, and that the inside of the helmet was so bright. I also made this mod so I didn't feel like I needed to enable the dynamic darkening script in the mod's mcm. I highly recommend turning the option off with this mod.
Using GIMP, DullCandles29's DDS batch script, and XnConvert, I ran a few filters over every single helmet overlay texture previously released by user megapolom who allowed the use of his textures for other non-profit mods. Primarily this involved darkening and blurring the textures. I also slightly enlarged and then cropped the images back down to 1920 x 1080 so the visible window in each helmet is a little larger.
I was careful to ensure all hoods had an associated UI still visible, even if it was just a little shading at the corners or sides. It should be noted that there seem to be a few hoods from the vanilla game not covered by the original mod author, and there is little I can do about that. Thus far, the alik'r hood, and a few of the commoner/peasant hoods are the only culprits. Additionally, the OG seems to have neglected masks entirely, including dragon priest masks, the mask of clavicus vile, etc. I suppose this is due to the masks not having any obvious holes for visibiilty. Thus, he opted for full vision rather than complete blindness lol.
I carefully curated the textures while editing, but have not tested all of them in game so let me know if their are any issues.
