Note: she has her own follower system and by default she is ignored by NFF or AFT (or any other follower frameworks). You can still use NFF or AFT on all your other followers, of course, just not on her. The reason she has to have her own custom follower system is that she's quite unique: lacking limbs and pockets she can't wear armor, use furniture, eat food, store things, sleep, etc.

Version 1.9 improves the way she handles orders to "Take All" from any container, or "Harvest X": since she has no hands (nor storage) she can only rummage around to make the items pop-out and fall on the floor, where you can pick them up. She's good at cutting flowers though! The process removes the stolen mark, if any, so this could be seen as an exploit -this may possibly be improved in the future. If there are more than 5 of any item then she will pop the first 5 individually and all the rest in a stack so as to not overload the engine with too many 3d instances. It's safe even for quest items (ex. Meridia's Beacon). However, do not ask her to pick up stuff off the floor -in that case stacks will turn into singles and unique REF IDs will change (I don't think there's a way around this; DropObject is not as reliable as I wish it was).

I also fixed the bug where arrows shot at her would try to get into her inventory and trigger her get-rid-of-stuff-I-have-no-pockets routine.

I also added a new ending for players who don't wish to become the Dragonborn -you'll miss out on free soul-stealing which the other endings get, but at least you can get her to bond with you without having to trade dragon souls. Oh yeah, this means the other endings get free soul-stealing that actually fills soul gems. Lastly, she should be immune to stagger now -it looked off given she has no body.

Version 1.8 if you use the summon spell and you don't have a weapon equipped, she will be summoned directly into your hands, to be wielded instantly. If you do have another weapon equipped then it will act as a normal summon (thanks to Dawn of Mike in youtube comments for the idea). Also, you can temper the 'dead' version (bad ending) at a grindstone, if you have the Arcane Blacksmith Perk. Lastly, I fixed a rare bug with her return-to-follower feature.

Version 1.7 adds a "May I wield you again?" line, for convenience, and instead of having to pick up her body from the floor you now grab her out of the air, which looks cooler. It also gives her a three-second combat pause right after summon, in case you're summoning her to pull her out of trouble. Thanks to Pega3 for these ideas. It also revamps the way the first meeting goes to be a bit more reliable, and finally makes her immune to poison and disease (perks of having a metal body).

Version 1.6 adds a new feature: you can ask her to relax in any location, and she will sandbox around the area. It also fixes a bug where if you dropped her inside a location that belongs to someone else, she would get marked 'stolen' before you could pick her up. It also adds a workaround for when you ask her to pick up items off the floor -she'll kick them around instead. Best if you don't ask her to pick up items -it's not like she has pockets anyway!

Version 1.5 removes Vibrant Weapons as a hard requirement because VR users can't use it (and not everyone actually likes the light!). You can still have lights though if you install the optional FloatingSword_VibrantWPN_Patch.zip.

The manual has clues written by Ulves as to what two items to put into the Forge for it to reveal something Ulves wanted to keep hidden.

In any case, come to https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/47302 for Chapter II, it includes this mod. Also, there's a discord in case you get stuck at any time, people there can help you: https://discord.gg/52qUTXu

The book isn't even on the table for me.

I downloaded the chapter 2 and the book still isn't there, it's nowhere in the room.

Try checking on the floor. There are some Dragonreach replaces that bump up his desk and the book falls to the floor. In any case, this is just Chapter I. Come to https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/47302 for Chapter II, which includes this Chapter I in it.

Could I also like a different model or would that break s#*!? I was thinking about replacing her model with the Umbra sword InsanitySorrow made but I'm pretty unsure on if this would work or not.

As long as it's two-handed, you can replace the nif and texture files for the sword with anything you like!

f*#@, I think Insanity's is one-handed. Damn. Oh well. I think I might use his ebony sword replacer then. But thanks for the quick reply! I am really pumped to finally try this mod out, I recently cleaned up my mod list and now that I have a few plugins left until I hit the ESP limit again I wanted to give it a try. But I'll probably wait until you release the update, I am so down for riding around Skyrim on my sentient sword. Writing that sentence alone makes me giddy with excitement :D

I'm super pumped about this... I feel it was the perfect storm of voice talent (Kerstyn Unger -you probably have heard her as Serana, and Shawn L. Koch, did an *awesome* Clavicus) and animations from netwalker, models from Praedyth... it's one of those things when everything comes together. Can't wait for the weekend.

Oh I am so looking forward to Clavicus. The talent some of these voice actors bring to the table really is incredible. A real testament to their craft and also to this modding community. My favorite is still and will probably always remain Daniel Hodge for his insanelly accurate Sheogorath, but that's just preference.

In any case: Thank you for this, I can't wait :)

Is the upcoming update its own thing or meant as a patch to the original? I have held off on downloading so that I don't have to possibly remove the old version.

I'm so glad to hear this, and it's about to get a bit longer because the sequel will publish this weekend (it's up in patreon already). It's a much longer story, I hope you'll enjoy it!

Heya, I need help. I don't know if I'm just that dumb, or if it conflicted with other mods, but the summoning of Umbra doesn't seem to work for me. I figured out the two ingredients needed, but it still doesn't do anything. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess is some mod is overwriting those items -the Atronach Forge only responds to vanilla versions. Try this:
      Spoiler:
      Show

      • Give yourself a vanilla daedra heart 'player.additem 3AD5B 1' and vanilla iron dagger 'player.additem 1397E 1' and use those in the forge
      • If that fails (it shouldn't!) then 'help ulves' and 'player.additem XXX' where the XXX corresponds to the ID you just saw from Ulves' journal

      Best of luck!

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I'm convinced that it's because of my other mods. Anyway, I'll still endorse to support this cool-looking mod just so I could come back when I decide to make a new save. Thanks for the reply!

Additional info: I found a hostile NPC named 'Umbra' with an Umbra weapon a full set armor named 'Umbra' by the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon. I'm assuming this was from another mod, so could this possibly be the cause?

Hey, you don't need a new save,
      Spoiler:
      Show

the Atronach Forge was supposed to give you Ulves' journal, but since that's not working you can get the journal using the console. Type 'help ulves' and when you see Ulves's journal, write down the ID number. Then type 'player.additem xxx' where the xxx is the ID number. That will add it to your inventory, just read it and the quest will continue.

As for the other Umbra NPC you found, you can click on it on the console and if you have the 'more informative console' mod installed, it will tell you which mod is it coming from. In any case, I don't think that's what's causing your Atronach Forge issue. It don't think it should cause any issues.

      Best of luck!

Hello, I recently found out about this mod. I found the concept of the mod very interesting, so at first, I tried to look for any mod reviews on youtube, but I couldn't find any unfortunately. So I just tried it out myself for about 2 hours, and I do have some question, suggestions, and just general opinions. Please don't take anything I wrote too seriously (after all, it's just one person's opinion).

First, I really think that this mod needs a clearer description. For example, there needs to be explanations for Daumbra's dialogue options. When I talk to Daumbra, 2 dialogue options are little confusing: "patrol" and "you can relax here". I just assumed that "you can relax here" is setting Daumbra's home location and that "patrol" is equivalent to other follower mods' "relax" command. But then, I also noticed that even after I dismissed Daumbra, I still had the option to say "patrol". And when I choose "patrol" while she is dismissed, it not only re-recruits her but also puts her in wait mode. So this "patrol" command seems to be doing "follow me" and "wait here" at the same time? Also, I noticed that "patrol" and "you can relax here" alternate. That is, at some point, one dialogue option (for instance "patrol") disappears and only the other one ("relax") remains. And if I then choose "relax", then now "relax" command disappears but "patrol" command reappears. Now, I understand that this might just be a random Skyrim bug, but because I can't be sure what these commands actually do in this mod, I can't really determine whether this is intentional or not.

Second, it would be very helpful if there were some technical descriptions in the mod page. For example, Daumbra's stats as a follower (level, health, perks, resist, etc), her stats as a weapon (damage, temperable or not, whether tempered damage carries over to the follower, weight, speed, 1h or 2h), abilities you will get with this mod, voice samples, in-dept guide to questline with a spoiler tag, better information about compatibility (the locations that are edited, compatibility with weapon system mods like CGO, etc). I know that some answers are already on changelogs, but these answers really should be in descriptions.

Third, the mod description says that there are 2 quests, but does that include the quest in which you are looking for Daumbra? Is there anything after (Spoiler Alert) you make a deal with Clavicus?

Fourth, this might be due to my own mod list, but how do you "unequip" Daumbra? So when I ask, "May I wield you with my own hand?", then Daumbra is summoned to my hand like a bound greatsword. But if I unequip her, she simply disappears from my inventory and disappears forever from everywhere. I can't conjure her next to me, and she is simply lost to the Oblivion.

Now, these are just some of the questions I had: Do you plan to make a 1h version of Daumbra? Do you plan to add 1st person animation?

All in all, this is such a unique follower mod, and I enjoyed the quest a lot. I just wish the descriptions for the mod were little better.

      Hey!

It's a good idea to add more tech specs to the description, I'll do that. It may have to wait until I publish the sequel -that effort is taking up all of my time lately.

When you ask Daumbra to patrol, she stops following you and starts patrolling -which means she moves around the area and looks out for bad guys. When you ask Daumbra to relax, she stops following you and sandboxes in place -to the small degree a being unable to use furniture can sandbox :) You can ask her to do either one any time. You can also ask her to go back to following you any time.

In this version you're playing, there are only 2 quests, including the one where you gain her freedom from Clavicus. But in the sequel that I'm very close to publishing, the third quest happens which is larger than the first 2 quests combined. It also adds several new mechanics (sword throwing, sword riding, power attacks and mind control, plus a little treat I don't want to spoil :) ).

When you unequip Daumbra, she should simply drop back to the ground and return to being a follower until you wield her again (either via asking her, or via the summon spell when one of your hands is free). She should definitely not be disappearing into Oblivion! It kinda worries me that this is happening in your game :(

No plans to make a 1H version of Daumbra (would have to redo all the animations and reconsider several use cases that assume both hands are occupied), but to see First person animations you can use https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22306

I hope you enjoy the sequel when it's published soon!

Thank you for the quick reply!

So from what I understand from your comment,
      1. "Patrol" is the same as "relax" in AFT, NFF, and other follower mods like Inigo in that the follower starts to wonder about and sandbox in the vicinity and attack if there is any hostile npc

      2. "Relax" is the same as "patrol" but with less sandboxing?

      3. And "wait" is to just stand in the same place without sandboxing.

Is this correct? This was confusing to me because there seem to be 3 different versions of "wait" command. Also, is there no function to set Daumbra's home location (as in the place she goes when she is dismissed)? Does she just stay in the same place after being dismissed? And in this case, do you plan to add map marker to Daumbra?

I think her disappearing into Oblivion is probably due to a mod conflict on my part. Right now, I suspect CGO, but I'll need to verify it later.

      Yup,

      • Wait: she stays in place forever.
      • Relax: she moves around in a relatively small space, leisurely
      • Patrol: she moves in a much larger space, and doesn't wander around but rather goes in as straight lines as possible to the furthest point, then back, then to a different (if possible) furthest point, then back. Kinda like a policeman doing the rounds. Only works outdoors.

I use CGO myself and it works fine! There must be something else going on, unfortunately, sending her away when you unequip her.

You can set her home location through dialogue if you use the "My home is your home" mod, I use that myself. But often there's no need to: just take her home and ask her to Patrol or Relax. She doesn't use the vanilla follower system, so you technically don't have a reason to dismiss her.

No plans for a map marker, because the summon spell should always bring her to you no matter what. It's too bad it's not working for you :(
Lastly, you didn't say if you were, but just in case, please do not import her into AFT or NFF or similar -that will likely break her. She has her own system, and the two should ignore each other.

If you find out what was the mod causing the unequip issue please let me know, it would be good for me to know to see if it can be patched. Good luck!

Not sure if this is your case, but for Vibrant Weapons you have to remember to enable effects for NPCs! This is a spell that mod adds, it's a toggle effect you can turn on and off. It needs to be "on" for Daumbra's flames to produce light. The ENB light is not as bright, but it works out-of-the-box. Glad you're having fun!

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this or of there is a dedicated place to do so..,
    I'm having a bit of difficulty getting off the ground and getting the quest to progress;
I read the common loot book and got the quest to start, as well as talked to That person and headed down into the midden, afterward when I read the atronach forge book....but the quest doesn't progress.... I'm probably missing something but I can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated

The Atronach Forge book has a personal note section at the beginning. At the end of that section there's a message from the creator of the forge to his nephew. Read that last sentence for clues on what two items to put into the forge to go forward.

Post back if you're still having trouble figuring out what two items to use.
