I can't seem to make this work even with vanilla spells. I did what the installation instructions do but I can only read the archetypes for the novice spells and not learn the spell itself like in vanilla.
Hi all ! It doesn't seem to be working for me. I only have Spell Archetypes for the vanilla spells (except Novice spells of course). The Apocalypse ones (Novice or any level), are still Spell Tomes for some reason and are consumed when using to learns the spell. I changed the load order and even tried with the Apocalypse patch (the one they say is outdated), restarted a new game each time to see if it changes but still not working. I've seen people say that with the patch the Archetypes are wrong but I don't even have that so I really don't know what is wrong. I don't know if it's a bug or if I'm just missing something... I hope I can fix it somehow because I love the idea of this mod. If anyone knows where the problem comes from and/or how to solve it, I'll be very grateful !
Ah sorry I thought Altered Spell Tomes for Spell Research included Apocalypse since it's on the list of supported mods XD Thanks, I can stop worrying about my load order then ^^ Thanks for the quick response !
I originally just forwarded those entries from Altered Spell Tomes, but good point it shouldn't keep those errors. I've uploaded a fresh version now with entries changed to "None." Thanks for the report!
This should be part of the original Altered Spell Tomes mod imo. The original idea was great, but early-game magic is way too hard without this, and it's not that hard to imagine a reason for roleplay purposes as to why novice spells would not require any research (Like, these spells are so simple that literally anyone can cast them, with little to no knowledge about magic required) So, thanks a lot clios_hand ! I probably wouldn't have used the original mod without your tweaks.
Hi author are you aware of the CTD issue with the original mod when buying from vendors? It seems like that it's related to a certain novice spell and its teachable tag or something when you activated the Altered Tome mod mid playthrough. Is there a way you can look into fixing?
Just wanted to say I think this is a solid idea. I had a similar idea myself especially since I am using Aopapse Arcana which integrates spell research with Spell forge so you can only learn spells at 5 spell forges throughout skyrim.
That makes early game magic nearly impossible unless you book it to one of the forges. Something like this will help a lot.
Thanks! I love the intuitive learning stuff but it's like a cliff to climb to get started as a lvl 1 nobody esp with any other mods that remove starting spells. I just don't have the time to play it 100% hardcore anymore.
This mod needs to load after Altered Spell Tomes so you get my changes. Then load Odin after my mod so that you get Enai's needed changes to the spell tomes. Note it will revert a couple of the raise/heal dead spells above novice to regular spell tomes. (If you don't want that, you'll need to get the altered tomes patch for Odin here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/48588)
Probably too late, but even the odin altered spell tome patch you linked has the issue where those couple of spells are reverted. The patch generators seem to skip over Odin spells that use vanilla IDs. I'm trying to work out a fix and will upload if I can.
Hello, I've been waiting for a mod like this, but for some reason it does not seem to be working for me, I acquire a spell tome, read it, but I do not unlock any archetypes.
EDIT: I misinterpreted the goal of this mod, sorry about that
Not completely sure what you mean - do you mean how to uninstall this patch if you've decided to uninstall the Altered Spell Tomes mod? Do note, Altered Spell Tomes is not a mod that you should uninstall mid-game. If you want to revert all the tomes to vanilla (in effect disabling all that mod's changes) you could technically do so with this patch in xEdit, simply extending the reverts I made to the novice tomes to the rest of the spell books (or make your own patch that does the same).

Disabled the mod in vortex, along with all altered spell tomes mods. No effect, even on a new game.
Am I missing something?
