A younger sounding voice type to apply to female followers and other NPCs

Overview:

One of the most immersion-breaking aspects of Skyrim is that only a handle of voice actors/actresses were used to voice the entire population of Skyrim. These professionals are amazing, but having so few of them leaves the world of Skyrim feeling a bit two dimensional. To combat this, I would like to take the Vanilla voice types and break them into multiple other voice types using audio editing software. I will eventually create 2-3 new voice types from each of the origionals.

For now, I bring to you my first attempt. This is only one new voice type; the voice type that seems to be the one that's most in demand. It is a younger-sounding edit of the FemaleYoungEager voice type. The new one is called FemaleYoungFragile.

I originally wanted to use a Macro to batch edit, but the results weren't great..so I had to hand edit all ~2,000 audio files. Even NPC quest dialogue is in there, so you can change the voice types of any NPC that uses the FemaleYoungEager voice type and everything from their idle chit-chat to their personally questlines will be converted.
THIS MOD DOES NOT CHANGE THE VOICE OF ANY CURRENT NPCS
Think of this as a modder's resource. By enabling this mod, it simply adds the new voice type and it's resources to the game. Other mods will need to utilize these resources for them to be available in game. I have added this voice to all of the formlists that the original voice type was in, so you should simply be able to change their voice type and not break any quests or dialog.

Known Issues:
  • The big one is that the Bard songs can be terrible. All of the tracks that have the string instrument behind them will sound a bit off. I'm going to issue a hotfix once I get the program i need to fix this.
  • There are going to be what's known as "artifacts" in the new voice. These can be anything from a slight "ting" to a very "fazey" syllable here and there.
  • The original voice actress loved to use what's known as "vocal fry". This is a grumble sound made by your voice vibrating very slowely(think of the sound the girl from the movie "The Ring" made). She used it to add a "warmth" to her voice, but it doesn't translate very well with my edits. I fixed a lot of them, but I know that a lot still probably got through.
  • The strong "SS" sounds made in common speech (called sibilance) were pretty bad in the original recordings. By making the voice higher, these got worse. I fixed a lot of them, but I'm sure some got through.
  • Finally, I was pumping these files out like a machine. There were a few "problem files" that gave me a really tough time, but I did most of them in seconds and hurried onto the next. The problem with this is that there are most likely going to be files that have problems that I could fix, but didn't notice the problem.
Reporting a Problem:
If you notice a voice line that is either completely broken or just doesn't sound right, let me know. If it's a one-time line in a quest that is just a little off, keep it to yourself :) I'm looking for the voice lines that are repeated often. If any of those are bad, it'll quickly get annoying so i want to fix it.
To report a problem, tell me:
  • The NPC
  • The quest associated with the line (if any)
  • What the problem was with the line
  •  and FINALLY what the voice line said

I highly recommend the mod SSE High Quality Voices
