I made this because I am angry at vanilla mage robes which look WAY cooler on male characters than on females. The female arch-mage and expert robes in vanilla look like granny dresses. So I made this for myself.
The mods and assets which I used as a base for this mod do not have a male version. So there are no male meshes for me to use. So, sadly, there won't be a male variant of this mod unless someone wants to make one.
I typed out a really long comment here about the current state of this mod and what we can still do with it (since it seems to have been abandoned). But it wouldn't post, and then I messed up my copy/paste of it and lost it all. So here it is again, but real fast this time.
I'm on SE v1.6.1130 using the CBBE (no 3BA) versions.
Tired to figure out the Hood and Circlet no crafting issue in xEdit, but I don't know xEdit very well and got nowhere- thought I found something that pointed at needing certain crafting pre requists was why we couldn't craft, but I was wrong. Gotta console or mod spawn them in, like everyone else has said. But, the circlet is more broken than that. It won't appear on any of the 3 elven races, male or female. I tried basic vanilla presets to make sure anything like a hair mod or High Poly Heads wasn't the issue. Further, it doesn't properly equip in your inventory on elves; meaning you can equip as many as you want and still equip a Vanilla Circlet on top of all those (yes, like 5 circlets equipped at the same time.) Further, if they are all enchanted....the enchantments DO stack. Things get weird after you equip 3, the last one doesn't equip with the arrow next to it, but the effect equips literally every time you click on it to try to equip. Your Active Effects screen will be a wall of the same effect if you clicked a lot trying to make it work...and the effect does stack for every clicked version. The circlet equips and appears as normal on non-elven races. The hood is a mage robe variant on the Argonians and Kajiit, all other races get a leather hood as seen in the pictures. But this might be on my build because of a mod conflict with Opulent Outfits Texture Replacer that I found. Everything always equipped properly, just the appearance was different.
Opulent Outfits overwrites Battle Mage Armor, no matter your load order. Probably fixable in xEdit. However, this allows you to customize the Battle Mage Armor with Opulent Robe color and texture themes, breathing new life into this old mod! Opulent Outfits Robe colors on BM Armor:
Opulent Outfits is a FOMOD that lets you pick a color (which represent the different magic disciplines) that will be applied to each level of mage robes, from Apprentice up to Arch Mage and an optional Necromancer Robe replacer. You can also chose to NOT to replace any of them during the FOMOD install. This allows lots of customization of the Battle Mage armor that stays in theme with the Opulent Outfits! Here's some Custom options I threw together:
The time consuming part is figuring out which Opulent Robes replacement corresponds with which BM Armor Set. But, I already did that for you! The gloves, boots and leather hood are unaffected by anything. Necro Gloves and BM gloves are the same. All the boots are the same except the Necro Boots are a little darker.
The Wrist/Forearm Color is global across all 3 Non-Necro BM Cuirasses - Set with Opulent Journeyman Robes Color The Mage hood (Kajiit and Argonian only) - Set with Opulent Apprentice Robes Color The shoulder covering and the bag with the shoulder strap are all tied to the same color setting.
BM Green Cuirass Robes - Opulent Journeyman Robes Color Shoulders & Bag - Opulent Apprentice Robes Color
BM Brown Cuirass Robes - Opulent Apprentice Robes Variant 1 Color Shoulders & Bag - Opulent Arch Mage Robes Color
BM Purple Cuirass Robes - Opulent Apprentice Robes Variant 1 Color Shoulders & Bag - Opulent Journeyman Robes Variant 1 Color
Necromancer Cuirass The FOMOD replacer is just a toggle, no color choices. It replaces the Sleeves and a subtle retexture of the Shoulder cover. You can see it in my first picture with default colors.
A bit of trial and error to set your custom colors to your liking. You just reinstall Opulent Outfits any time you want a change since it's only a texture replacer, I thoroughly tested this mid-save using MO2. If you are Removing any of the Opulent Textures/Colors make sure you choose to Replace files at the end of the FOMOD install rather than Merge. Note, the Arch Mage Robes are different shades, so using the BM Brown set to get access allows for more color options. But some colors (ie- Purple) are more vibrant on the regular robes. Also, the Apprentice Robe types have different patterns than the Journeyman Robes, even though the colors are the same!
I love this mod. I love the outfit. But for Winterhold, the exposed legs seem a bit of an emersion break. So could you maybe make a version with pants and maybe fur so that it looks suitable for cold weather?
I kinda concur, a version with pants would be a nice addition to the set, if only to shield the legs from the freezing temperatures of Skyrim's Colder areas.
i think you were failing to see this users dismay with the fact that this particular armor and its specific and unique design will be unavailable to any Male playthrough they would hope to do. That said the following links you posted, as nice (or not) of a gesture as it was sadly and quickly become irrelevant. Sad that this great armor cannot live up to the expectations of everyone but alas i guess it won't.
I think people need to stop having such high or automatic expectations. This stuff (modding) usually takes a lot of time and effort (work) to produce. To expect the authors to cater to one's own preferences is really rather selfish and shows a level of entitlement that shouldn't be there. Either offer to pay a mod author a decent amount of money for their time and effort, or accept that you won't get to use it and move on.
Or... get off yer butt (figuratively and learn how to do this s#*! and then you can make whatever you want to suit your needs. If that's just way too much trouble for you, then you should easily understand why these mod authors don't do back flips to accomodate everyone's individual desires.
Personally, i think Elianora was more than accomodating to offer 40 links to male armor options.
Are you serious? A massacre? Most of these listed mods only look half decent on female characters and 1/4 of the mods are just immersive armor mods standalone... LOL so much choice for male characters compared to 95% of the other armor mods on nexus. Jesus...
Hi! I managed to port to LE your amazing Battle Mage Armour mod, for my own game. Can I upload it to Nexus Skyrim LE? All credits will be given of course, and a link to your SE version. Have a great day! -Xtudo
Any suggestions how to troubleshoot this: there is no option for me to craft this armor and when browsing esp's it shows up in the list, but when added to the inventory it's not there. Tried adding it with console command but same thing as with esp browser. Sad, this looked pretty good
Is there any chance of an alternative made with pants instead of the wraps? I love this mod but looking at the visible skin plus the snow makes me feel cold. Totally understand if that's just not something you're interested in doing though
I noticed that this one had a different appearance than your Battlemage Armour (Female) for LE. Will you at some point be porting it over to SSE or is it there to stay? I love the older one so much, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to work with Anniversary Edition.
I feel that lol. I'm not much of a tech wiz, so I can only imagine the pain in the butt porting through editions must be. If you do, that would be awesome and I would be the first in line to download it. If you don't, no pressure, I'm sure you have plenty of other things that you could enjoy doing- like not porting old mods lol.
Thank you SO much for this glorious take on mage robes. I've literally spent nearly a whole morning on the Nexus hunting for something lore-friendly, but a bit different and fresh for my mage (I've got the usual clothing/DE/IA/Black Mage stuff already) and ugh, was I getting more and more dejected scanning page after page of nothing but boobs and fetish gear (not trying to insult anyone! it's just not for me, is all, and it seems like there's TONS of it =/) and then found this lovely set. I'd actually downloaded your Bloodchill Manor patch for Inigo's personal quest ages ago, but never took a look at your other files, and now I see you've got TONS of gorgeous work!
Endorsed here, and I'll definitely be snatching up more of your things for my playthrough. Again, I can't thank you enough for the beautifully detailed, lore-friendly mods I'm seeing in your list of work. <3
One of my favourites and a must have on my list each and every time! thank you so much for sharing your incredible work with us, any time i think of my dragonborn this is the set she wears most of the time! <3

You can probably find more on your own, I don't have time to go through the entire armour category
Check out the Clothing category too, might find even more stuff.
Yeah ... 40 links against 4000 links for female.
Just see the front page of this site.

Porting mods is NOT fun. I've been trying to but it's just mostly troubleshooting and "WHY IS THIS FCK CRASHING THE GAME". Super annoying.
