May I ask how you installed the mod? Installing should be as simple as dropping the files into the data folder and activating the esp with a mod loader of choice (ingame mod loader, NMM, mod organizer...).
May be i'm a bit late, but i saw this in the oldrim Axe of Hrothmund mod by Painkiller97, 2 handed version. ( Here : https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31116?tab=posts )

if you wanna do this (for personnal purpose only) 1 create an account on bethesda.net 2 download the luncher (application) 3 download the creation kit (CK) from the luncher 4 then follow this : https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Porting_Skyrim_mods_to_Skyrim_Special_Edition
It worked for me, i downloaded the "Hrothmunds Axe - SparrowPrince version" content. "
I've tried this and it looks like it works just fine ( I used the painkiller's version ). Fast and easy to do, and easy to learn by checking on google :). You can change the stats ( weight, range, damage, speed, .. ) on CK. I made mine a bit faster.
REQUEST: How 'bout an actual 2-handed version? There's a few for Oldrim but this 1-handed version is all that's available for SE as far as I can tell.
QUESTION: Will Oldrim retextures work on this SE version via NMM?
I'm talking specifically about this retexture http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34047/?
I know you already say in the description that textures for the original will work on this 1-handed version but I'm not sure if that extends to mixing Oldrim with Newrim. I haven't found any Hrothmund's Axe retextures for Newrim.
Edit: I tried it out and there were no problems. Turns out your version just the way it is looks MUCH better than the 4k oldrim retex i linked above. Check out this comparison!
