I'll put any news or updates here, everyone. (SE Version)
And if you notice anything wrong with the mod, be sure to let me know. There are a lot of files in this thing, and it'd be easy for me to make a dumb typo somewhere and mess something up. I sure hope that didn't happen.

    Update June 15, 2022:
I added "None" options to the installers, in case there were any textures you wanted to skip. Don't hesitate to let me know if I messed up and broke the mod somehow.

Is there per chance a non-replacer version? I am really enamored by the royal blue robes, but I also use Rustic Clothing and Armor and Clothing Extension. Both of which would likely conflict with this being replacers.

There is just such a lack of non-female only blue clothing mods. Its all dresses or the ugly blue mage robes.

There was one, a full version of Opulent Outfits, when the mod was first released (I think), but it's been taken down or hidden or whatever. Someone else around here says they found an old version floating around somewhere. I recommend you look for that, see if it suits your needs.

All my robes are blue, which mod could make a conflict with this one?

This mod is a loose files texture replacer for base game mage college robes. Technically, it is very likely to conflict with any other mod that changes the base game mage's college robe appearance in any way.

These are the best robes in the game, hands down. Thanks for making them and making it configurable.

can anyone tell me in the FOMOD which level of robes are tied to which selection? they all say apprentice or apprentice Variant. also what robes are journeyman robes?

The base game only recognizes 2 meshes for college robes - Apprentice and Journeyman.
Apprentice robes cover all the ones the game labels: novice, apprentice, and adept.
Journeyman robes cover the ones labeled: expert, master, and college.
I think that's how the split goes.

Okay so apprentice robes in fomod would be novice? Whilst apprentice V1 would be adept? Only trying to work it out as I want a different colour for every stage of robes I.e blue for novice, green for adept etc

Ah, I'm afraid that's not possible using this mod alone. This mod just replaces base-game textures, and the base-game makes each level share the two robes - and any texture swapping happens completely at random. You could select 3 different colors for all the alt choices, and end up with three different adept robes of all different colors, with no consistent way of predicting which you'll get.
If you wanted consistent colors, or even colors based on school of magic, that would require a different mod that uses an esp to change how the robes are implemented in the game.

Okay so how does this actually work then? For example say I select blue for the very first option and green for the second option which I believe is Apprentice Variety 1 what particular robes are being retextured to blue & green?

      edit:
so i ran a few tests of my own id like to leave if anyone was curious.
      in the FOMOD
APPRENTICE BASE = ALL NOVICE ROBES OF ALL THE SCHOOLS
APPRENTICE VARIANT 1 = APPRENTICE ROBES OF ALL SCHOOLS
APPRENTICE VARIANT 2 = ADEPT ROBES OF ALL SCHOOLS
JOURNEYMAN BASE = EXPERT ROBES OF ALL SCHOOLS
JOUNEYMAN VARIANT 1 = MASTER ROBES OF ALL SCHOOLS
      ARCH MAGE = SELF EXPLANITORY

some of the robes in games labelled as just novice robes or expert robes without any of the enchantments also take on the retexture. i say some because i spawned 2 different 'novice robes' in the command and only 1 had the retexture

If you wanted consistent colors, or even colors based on school of magic, that would require a different mod that uses an esp to change how the robes are implemented in the game.

Opulent Outfits by Babooncru / MangoMonkey (both the LE Original and updated SSE Version) introduce a lot of visual interest to Skyrim's mage robes, including adding distinctive colors and patterns for every school of magic. It's definitely an impressive and well-beloved mod.

The mod description really shouldn't claim that it's adding colors for specific schools of magic if that's not what it's actually doing.

There is, in fact, a robe color corresponding to each school of magic - conjuration, restoration, destruction, illusion, alteration - as provided by the original Opulent Outfits mod. However, Skyrim is not set up to have all of those colors active simultaneously. This being a vanilla texture replacer, it doesn't change that fact. It's specifically intended as an alternative to those more complex mods.

you can basicly get 3colir variations with this mod,i chose all the apprentice robes, robes for students like player, jzargo bre etc as blue, the journeyman robes for the teachers i chose purple, and archmage i chose red..it works fine ,sometimes the boots get jumbled up but thats an easy fix so you can have multiples using this mod, hope that helps

You could, but it would require a mod that adds player-only robes for you to wear. If you have something like that, you'd just need to copy/paste the textures into place. Unfortunately, I can't think of any mods like that off the top of my head.

got it to work i love this mod so much..i ported opulent mage robes of winterhold and got it to work accept for one small issue i cant figure out,it distributes the robes perfectly,it displays the proper school on the correct npc..But it somehow overwrites every single npc replacer i have reverting them back to vanilla..long story short i always end up coming back to this one i love these robes so much so thank you, maybe one day i can figure out how to make a SPID file to distribute them (all the color and boot variations) to npc..because im greedy like that lol

It would be lovely if someone made a mod using ALL of these wonderful textures for different magic schools rather than replacing the, what, 3 variants of robes in vanilla?

The mod is installed because another mond needs it and yet it says "opulentoutfits_2017-sse aio.esp missing"
What should I do to make it work? Please help me

It's the wrong mod. You want regular Opulent Outfits for SSE, not this texture replacer.
Similar issues were mentioned elsewhere in this forum thing. Check that for more information, because the Opulent Outfits mod you need is no longer available under normal circumstances.

If you installed Immersive College of Winterhold mod and used the patch for the Opulent Outfits for SSE that has an .esp file and is not available anymore here on the Nexus, just delete the patch file so bash and LOOT will have no more problems. You can use these textures still as they are texture replacers and this mod has no .esp.

Mod is working wonderfully besides that all the heads of schools are naked. Robes loaded for everyone else besides the heads of schools. I did a re-install to make sure I selected an option for them and after doing that they are still naked. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou
