One big problem with this mod: you can't collect dreams peacefully anymore. When you use the staff on a sleeping npc they will be frenzied and wake up. So no using this in towns or guildhalls. I don't make this post looking for any updates to this old mod, just as an advisory to anyone else who might want to download it. Ofc you can still collect dreams from the odd sleeping bandit or isolated npc, but like, good luck with that.
Checking in SSEEdit, the DA16Skull01Dreamsteal effect is changed by this mod. In vanilla this is the effect that checks if an actor is sleeping and then applies the dream steal effect. With this mod, all of that data is wiped for a message that says "The skull feeds on the sanity of targets." I can't confirm that this is the culprit, as the dream steal effect still applies when using the staff on sleeping npcs. The SkullFrenzy and SkullAgony effects have conditions to check if the target is sleeping. So I have no solutions.
Final update unless I find a solution. The frenzy/damage statuses do not have conditions under the Object Effect tab. Could possibly be the reason why sleeping targets are still frenzied and damaged but cannot confirm.
The mod edits the Skull of Corruption to use the vanilla Frenzy spell. Duh. So. The Frenzy spell doesn't have a condition to check if the target is sleeping. Simply load SSEEdit with Vokrii (and any other mods that edit the Frenzy spell, such as the Odin/Vokrii compatibility patch.) Whichever mod is last to override the Frenzy spell: add the condition "GetSleeping = 0" to the empty conditions line. The condition will default to 0 for you. If you do not see the conditions tab under the Frenzy spell, you need to right click somewhere in the right-side panel and uncheck "Hide no conflict and empty rows".
Note that this will affect the vanilla Frenzy spell too (won't work on sleeping targets anymore), but this is the only fix.
Don't worry about damaging sleeping targets anymore, because that is tied to the frenzy effect.
You're good to go now, but here is one final consideration.
Since you often steal dreams in towns and guildhalls, you might want to address the fact that the spell has force behind it and throws clutter all over the place when you try to steal someone's dreams. Not very stealthy. Here is the fix. Download No Force for Illusion Spells: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/38700?tab=description (It is compatible with Vokrii and any other spell mod.)
