Hands down going to be my favorite follower mod ever. I keep searching for animal taming mods because I want a pet bear for my Wood Elf Hunter playthrough. Never can find one thats straight forward enough, but THIS. THIS is perfect! Grunt shall join me on my 100% Completionist run!
Grunt is my second-favorite bear in my build. Only Banter Claw from Hammet's Dungeon Pack 1 is better, because he's a giant maniac on four legs and does more damage. But, you can't recruit him without another mod helping you, plus you can't get him early in the game, so that makes Grunt more valuable.
Thanks to his position in Riverwood, I've included him as part of a menagerie that simply hang around Riverwood just waiting for you to recruit them. Just up the hill from Grunt is Sabretooth the Loyal Sabrecat Companion (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10287). Then, after you recruit Sabretooth, hang a right turn and head away from Riverwood. You'll see a dead wolf in the trees, and right there is her little baby Wolf Follower (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/33708). He's no more than a week old, but if you feed him (you'll need to feed him to recruit him, so have some raw meat on you), he'll grow on you, literally, and level up as well. Be sure to make him fluffy (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/123780). Hang another right and head back to the road, and you'll run across Cowpanion (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/77107). He's a Level 100 battle cow. I repeat, a level 100 battle cow. Then, make another right and head back toward Riverwood, and you'll find Savage, one of the Dovah Dogs (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/101050). He's one of a set of 11 scattered across Skyrim (you'll get Fang in Whiterun). Five animal companions in less than five minutes. They're not that great in dungeons, but on open terrain, they're hell on wheels.
for anyone who's having trouble locating him he's right behind the woodpile area in front of riverwood(might not be wood if you have a mod touching riverwood). When you're facing the gate take a right and he'll be laying there. If you need a visual https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Vf7Yf4lZsI this shows exactly at the 1:09 mark
don't know if you've already found him but start at riverwood, head out of the southern/western gate, and immediately take a left. Within the patch of grass you should see him, he will be resting on the ground, not moving and not making any noise.
Or even just type a sentence or two briefly describing his location in the description. I feel like that's much less work than making an entire video to show us where he is, when you could literally take ten seconds to write, "Grunt is here (insert location)."
