I was never able to get it to work the Skyrim 3D Trees because the plugin specifically points to those LOD files. And when I deleted the Skyrim 3D Trees LODs or renamed that folder, my game would crash as soon as I loaded a game file. So I: 1. I uninstalled Skyrim 3d Trees 2. I installed Myrkvior - The Flora of Skyrim 3. I installed this Aspens Ablaze 3D Trees Patch (it seems to work with any other tree mod other than 3d Trees) 4. I installed Aspens Ablaze and let it overwrite Myrkvior 5. Reran DynDOLOD and everything looked good

Did you do exactly what the Mykvior page said? I did and I'm not getting any AA LODs. In fact, the near LOD models are completely gone and the really far LOD models are Myrkvior's aspens. I get the normal aspens from AA when up close but none of the AA LOD models at all.
No, I did not. To be honest, I have since moved on from Aspens Ablaze. I wasn't happy with the bright washed out look of the trees and the LODs. But I would suggest trying this setting in the DynDOLOD-SSE.ini file to use full tree models instead of billboards for the LODs:

Thanks for the link. I finally worked it out and have some lovely LODs with the beta version of DynDOLOD but I moved on to Fallout 4 a few moths ago. Here's a shot at Lost Tongue Overlook with LODs generated from the full tree models:
Can someone explain to me why this stuff is even happening? I have myrkvior the flora of skyrim mod and this is the same bug that no matter what the load order is the "big" tree mod comes first. how is this happening?
New version of 3D trees and Myrkvior forces its trees meshes through ESP, I think thats why no matter what other trees mod you add wont appear ingame, unless you delete their entries from ESP or make patch like this one.

So I:

Aspens Ablaze Add-On seems to work, but you still need the patch if you use 3D Trees.
