Running a batch through nifscan I got this:
     door by ramccoid\meshes\effects\ruinspuzzledoorfx.nif
Block [2]: Mesh doesn't use SLSF1_External_Emittance but has BSXFlags with bit 9 set.
Per NifScan author, this can cause random crashes.

Nice, but why you colored khaki the smoke atlas? They supposed to be black 'n white for a good reason.

Maybe the answer you're looking for is in the comments on the original LE mod. Read the description. If the author never addressed it, you're not going to get the answer you're looking for :( Out of curiosity, why does it need to be black and white?

Ramccoid did it as an artistic choice i would imagine. Make the dust better resemble the material ancient nordic architecture is suppose to use. If you've ever cleaned rust and dust off anything metal then you'd see the colors are very close to this, making it more realistic than black 'n white.

Its merely close to the same tints as the surrounding rock that the door is inserted into and the point lighting (torches) hit the particals so the games ambient light has its part in how the dust motes look. ; )
