It seems like this isn't working post-AE patch. Not sure if it's just me or something I'm doing wrong, but my chain lightning is definitely damaging serana despite this being installed during combat
That seems a bit confusing what you are doing here. From the perk description: Your attacks, shouts, and destruction spells do no damage to your followers when in combat.
It is said followers (getplayerteammate apply to Serana case when she is following you) !!!
Now if you dismiss her, off course your spell will affect (harm) her. So I don't see no point in this mod. Furthermore, your mod prevent all that are in Serana Faction from being affected by your spell which will probably lead to some odd situations.
Serana was my follower and I was still able to damage her in combat. UESP also lists this issue as bug with no fix with USSEP. Yes my mod prevents anyone being damaged during combat in Serana faction but only member of DLC1SeranaFaction is Serana herself so I don't see how it would lead to odd situations.
I rarely ever used this perk but if this is happening to Serana this could happens to any other follower which is playerteammate. I don't see what's wrong with Serana from any other follower which is playerteammate. If that's true one could dig in the magic effects of this perk.
From the UESP: "Vampire followers are not protected by Companion's Insight. This applies to Serana as well as any spouse follower you have turned into a vampire through The Gift."
