So this only makes it snowy inside the city walls? The area around the city still looks normal? Doesn't that make it seem really weird when you enter the city and it feels like a totally different biome?
It does if you don't have any other winter mods. But the way Skyrim is arranged is that it is divided into "worlds" and the city of Whiterun is a separate world space. I only made it wintry in here. I'm thinking others have made it wintry in Tamriel, which is alsoa s eparate worldspace.
If you want winter to cover the entirety of Skyrim, there is Winter Overhaul 2019 too, a complete winterizing of Skyrim and DLC. There are a couple of patches for Frostfall floating around on nexus so it knows the temperature should be cold everywhere.
I honestly didn't know that existed. I tried to find mods with keyword "winter" but somehow I missed that. I probably will still keep making my own because it is fun but I might use that in my game. Thanks for lettingme (and others too) know!
The problem is that that mod replaces every worldspace in the game whether they be vanilla or modded. I am looking for a mod that makes skyrim wintery without touching the worldspaces outside of skyrim such as solsteim and the beyond skyrim provinces.
The winter mod looks really carefully constructed and great for a lazy person. One press of a button and it's winter everywhere... Then again, I understand your point of view. I favor modularity myself and try to achieve that in what I do.
It'd be cool if the environment changed like this during the winter seasons with cathedral/obsidian weathers and seasons then went back to normal with summer.
I have only taken a really quick look at scripting so far, so if I were to attempt that, it would be somewhere far in the future. The downside to doing that even if I had the skills (which I do not have) is that then there would be an additional script running in the background, keeping tabs on the months passing and the textures. I actually went looking for info on this and found a few discussions. They all said that a script like that on Skyrim's game engine would be very taxing and slow your game down while heating up your computer. So... even if it is not quite as fun, it's better if we, the gamers, are "the script" that changes the seasons. :)
Nice. Thanks, Dustmo7e. I won't be using this personally because of the incompatibility with Fluffy Snow, but I'm endorsing it anyway. It always irritated me that Helgen and near Riverwood is all ice and blowing snow...but Whiterun and the environs are high summer. -.-
Looks ok, but can you also do the same for areas in skyrim outside of the cities like whiterun? It would be cool if you were able to make the areas in skyrim all wintery.
Thanks! It's really important to me to know that it works. :) I can certainly give it a try. I have something else that I wanted to do first, so I can't promise you when. Also, the area outside of whiterun is different when you look at it from the city as opposed to when you actually go out. I couldn't swap the brown tundra you see over the city walls, so I'm not sure if I can change that.

Climates of Tamriel also has a winter edition, but it isn't quite as extensive or as high quality.
