The best re-texture for nordic ruins. Been trying them all, and this one has an X-factor the rest don't. Underground and Venerable Temples are close seconds, but they don't give the same feeling. This one immediately feels like it is a real place (in VR), and that this is how the ancients might have built it. Realistic architecture everywhere. Thanks!
I've spent the last few hours wrestling with glaring and ugly inconsistencies between a number of popular and highly rated caves, dungeons, and Nordic ruins texture replacers. The only thing to bring unity to everything are your texture sets. What's more, they tie up perfectly with your Majestic Mountains retextures (who wants dark mountains which inexplicably contain white stone caves?).
Thanks so much. These could be doing with a resolution upgrade, but even at this res they look 100x better than any of the 4K textures out there, all thanks to the consistency.
It is still in the works. I have not played Skyrim SE for some time but it's is a constant work in progress. I jump back in everytime there is a mod that tickles me and then I make some edits. I can not promise any dates but it's not scrapped.
Hello, like many players I started with mods in which the walls of the Nordic ruins were covered with runic symbols. I liked this style, which was the one by which I debuted on Skyrim, it was in July. And I discovered your mod, two days ago, offering something, to my taste, more realistic and more oppressive while keeping a touch of fantasy. Thank you very much for your work which just made me go back to the ruins and dungeons I had already visited, just for the pleasure to rediscover them differently. Can't wait to test all this also in VR, the sensations will undoubtedly be there.
agreed ! Feels more rustic, more forgotten too in a way, remote and gloomy... ALso less tiring for the eyes when it's the 129th dungeon you visit :) All this dude does is pure quality, thx !
EDIT : I'll try to not forget, I think the screenshots don't honor the quality of this mod. I'll try to provide better pictures for it :) GUYS DROP THIS INTO YOUR LO AND CHECK IN GAME. thank him later
Oh, I love these textures (as well as the photoreal mountains)! I only wish there was a version with a better resolution... (As there is for the mountains, thank you!)
Yeah, it's a real shame, they have this weird shimmering issue on some of the textures..
I'm a 3D Vision user, but the effect can be seen in any sort of 3D, actually I tried to use these textures from the Oldrim site and it was the same, so I guess you haven't enhanced them since, there are several posts there regarding this issue...
Edit: Actually it's quite easy to see this shimmering effect on most wall textures, in normal 2D also, just focus on the walls and then turn really slow. Tbh this should be adressed before anyone can use it !
Nope. Nothing there. However transparent objects like cobwebs and grass do shimmer without proper AA. There is simply no workaround. What is your setup?
My setup is not that special :) No enb, , Luminosity and Relightning Skyrim, Resolution 1440x2560, is visible with or without FXAA (but most without, because of the FXAA blur effect). This is the first texture replacer I've seen behave this way, and none of the other Nordic Ruins set has issues like this.
Again I'll mention: Close up they look perfect, but try 3rd person and as far away as possible from the walls, then move real slow...
This is a copypasted post from the first page on your LE page: The normalmaps don't look too great in SSE. Super shiny/sparkly, especially with ENB. You can use these textures regardless, but they don't blend well with Northfire's mountains for SE, due to the glittering. I'll probably try to fix it for myself sometime with some hack and slash job in GIMP, but I'm sure the author could do it much better than me, so I hope it gets optimized and ported officially, too.
Sorry I'm normally not a mod basher.... These are otherwise great textures, so I hope that you can solve this.
That is so strange. I'm at 1920x1080 and I have nothing of what you are describing. With or without ENB. With or without AA. Is it happening in all the textures and over the entire surface? I do appreciate your input and effort.
Yes it's strange, floor and ceiling - nothing, the flat wall part which you have covered with some sort of square tiles - nothing. But the columns (all places thats normally covered with the texture with the circulare carvings) has issues...
I have to be honest with you, it's not that that bad in 2D, many people playing in 1st person, possibly wont even notice it... So if you can't find any issues, thats ok, then I just have to let it go.
Edit: just tried in 1920x1080 which makes it even worse...
That would be the textures with the skulls then? I replaced the runes with skulls.
I just uploaded a new version. Do you have parallax meshes installed? I apparently added some parallax textures from the oldrim version in to this one and perhaps thats what's causing it.
The new version looks the same way... Thanks for trying, I really appreciate that you are so helpfull, but if everybody else is happy with it, I suggest we let it go..
I've endorsed it anyway, because I really like it otherwise :)
These textures look awesome, but I do experience a subtle white static/noise specifically when I look around... almost as though there are pixels shining or reflecting the light. This is for the nordic ruins.
I just opened some of your ported textures and indeed - the diffuse textures lack mipmaps, and the normals lack mipmaps as well. You completely forgot to include the mipmaps, and that's bad.
You can do the following (if you use Photoshop). Download the Intel Texture Works DDS plugin, and save your textures with the following parameters: https://imgur.com/nxkM6Vb
Use "Color + Alpha" if the texture has an alpha channel, otherwise use only "Color" as texture type. And please use the original source (PSD or the Oldrim files) - don't resave/recompress these ported textures because with each compression you are degrading the texture more and more.
I really like your textures but I am still getting odd white-dot shimmering effects off of certain stone textures (typically some floor ones), even after this next version. I tried both Picturesque and the new Touch of Natural Tamriel ENBs and the problem remained?
I understand. Actually I when I first used this in an earlier build I never had this issue. It could be a mod conflict somewhere, in which case very hard to trace what causes it. Endorsed anyway as the textures are lovely.
Might be related to specular or normals? But I am just making uneducated guesses. I actually no longer experience the issue, so whatever you did solved it for me.
