Just wanted to leave a note that as of upcoming v5.5.8 of Legacy, this addon will no longer be required as we are adopting it into the base mod with credit. Thanks.

Would be awesome if this (as a stand alone, probably) would do the same for any person or creature with a skull. Mostly thinking of trolls, although I am not sure if trolls can be decapitated. I certainly haven't been able to.

Same would be for pulling out briarhearts and leaving a gap in their chest.

Or cutting off the toes from giants and defeathering hagravens.

Another, semi-related idea, which is probably far far beyond the scope here, would be to link this concept with Hunterborn and show a skinned animal once a pelt/hide is taken. Probably way too many creatures for this and would take a LONG time to create all the textures. But it'd be a cool idea.

Basically anything that is done to a carcass after it's dead could be shown.

There are some mods which cause the player to be dismembered during combat - hands, lower arm, upper arm, ankle, knees, and hips. These can also be applied to NPCs, but not during combat. They can only be done out of combat via hotkey menus which breaks immersion. Might look into those for more ideas.

To build on a little of what berndaroy wrote: Would it be possible to have the heads as their actual head? And I would love a standalone version of this. Maybe have a cutting animation (vanilla chopping block animation?) Are there any plans for a standalone? I love what you have made here +1

What I'm thinking of is making an xEdit script that creates meshes based on the head meshes in your load order. That way it's easily compatible with new NPCs and NPC overhauls.

As for a standalone version, I can probably make one.

I'm curious, how did you pull this off (I haven't looked at your code). Are you just swapping out an armor object or something?

When the item is picked up from the victim, the script adds and equips a modified decapitated head gore item that hides the head, hair, etc.

Thanks for fixing that small and yet annoying head problem.

I love this! Makes me want to re-download LoD. My next play though, I was planning on a real scum bag, but maybe a scum bag that likes trophies . Thanks!

Well if you want trophies then you can't go better than LotD. Glad you like the mod!

I like the idea of what you have done here, but if for realism, would not the head in your inventory still look like the victims head....i.e you would not have had time yet to "process the skull", to look like a skull. BUT this isn't a criticism, or if it's even possible from a modding perspective to be able to achieve this(I have no skills in that department). But well done, the idea is good and i wish you the best with it

I've thought about working on a mod similar to that. While I think it's possible, it's not straightforward to do so as head meshes don't work as static objects. Maybe in the future I'll give it a try.

      Thank you!
