Hello, I have a mod somewhere in my load order that isn't made out of loose files, so when I try to put this in my game, the Nirnroot doesn't get replaced at all. Do you know how could I pack this into an .esp or similar so that it can overwrite whatever is affecting them?
I really want to use this wonderful model, but I seem to be having problems installing it alongside 3D trees and plants. Usually mods lower down in one's load-order would simply overwrite those above, but no matter what I do, 3D's models always appear in-game. Would anyone be able to assist me in solving this problem?
I'm having this same problem too, in the 3D trees and plants posts mathy79 says "its impossible for any mod to overwrite files from the Skyrim 3D Trees and plants since they all have custom names and folders and they do not follow the vanilla format." So I don't think it is possible to use this nirnroot retexture and 3D plants and trees together. Such a shame because the nirnroot is the one plant I don't like from 3D plants and I love ArtByMari's version
Edit: I've been trying to figure out a way around this for hours with no luck. I've tried replacing the textures from 3D plants but that just deleted the nirnroots altogether, I've tried renaming ArtByMari's files and recreating the same file path used by mathy79 in their bsa file and putting the new textures in the data folder because I thought loose files took precedent, I've tried deleting the meshes and textures from 3D plants to attempt reverting to vanilla, and I've tried creating a new bsa file for 3D plants. Nothing works, but I don't really have any idea what I'm doing. Would really appreciate some help if anyone knows a work-around.
Edit: Finally figured it out. I unpacked the bsa files in 3D plants using this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/974 I deleted the S3D nirnroot meshes and textures, and replaced them with Mari's. Make sure the new files have the same name as the old ones. I didn't repack the bsas, I just left them as they are. No idea if this is the best way to do it, but it worked
Have a look in the 3D plants bsa files inside the textures and meshes folders, there should be some files called "s3dplants_nirnroot" and "s3dplants_floranirnroot" or something like that, I replaced all of them with the corresponding files from Mari's mod. I also just put the new crimson nirnroot files in there too, with a name change so they follow the same format as 3D plants. I also reinstalled Mari's nirnroot mod after, maybe that would help if it isn't working
Make a patch using SSEEdit and carry over conflicting items From Skyrim.esm to your patch, like, Activator- TreeFloraNirnroot01, NirnrootEmptyActivator Ingredient- Nirnroot and place patch after 3D trees and Plants.
It took some time to figure it out as I never used BSA extractor, but I got it to work. I extracted the two BSA's using ellis097 suggested BSA Extractor tool for 3D Plants and Trees. One is textures and one is meshes. I found the files for Nirnroot, also did this with thistle, tundra cotton, and a few other Mari's mods. Manually downloaded Mari's mods to see the files and renamed them to corresponding 3D plants file names. They all start with "s3dplants_" followed by the rest of the file name. Sometimes the rest is exactly the same and sometime not, and all of these are found in the s3d plants/landscape/plants/harvestables folder (going off memory here, pretty sure this is the path). Copy/paste Mari's files over Mathy's. I don't know how to repack the BSA's, so I just moved the unpacked BSA's with Mari's overwritten files and it worked. Not sure if this is good thing to do or not, so try at your own risk I guess. Seems to work great for me, and I now have the best of both worlds. Thanks to ellis here and kudos. Thanks Drake! I've used those patches so many times and didn't even realize this particular patch was there. I hope it gives me my nirnroot sound back, logging in now, let's hope...

There is a patch available:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/9951
You could ask on the Drowned Mods subreddit if anyone has a copy until he un-hides it again
install first Rudy HQ - More Lights for ENB SE - Deathbells and Nirnroots
then Nirnroot by Mari and delete the conflicting meshes (they are vanilla Oldrim meshes)
It is also absolutely gorgeous, very well done Mari !!
Endorsed and shared!!
