Ok, so I have quite a long list of mods that I'm fairly negligent with when it comes to interactions and curating a proper load order, I'm very much attempting to learn the ropes while also attempting to overcome a crippling case of computer-illiteracy. This being said, I understand that it would be next to impossible for someone to pin down hyper-specific and minor issues in the second hand from my guidance alone, so I'd caution a grain of salt with this entire interaction. When I first got this, beautiful, perfect, and life-changing mod, I started getting an error code 5 message from skyui, and in following the code's instructions, the fix seemed to be effectively disabling this mod. Unwilling to do so, I decided to just ignore the error code and play through--see what/where went wrong. So then I get impulsive and grab a couple extra spell mods, I'm already using apocalypse, but I picked up spell research, mysticism - the lost art, hemomancy, and dragon age spells redux. Fully expecting some interesting interactions, I went ahead and got as many spells as i could and favorites everything I'm interested in trying to use. In my first attempted save, I noticed some of the mysticism spells were sorting to strange places (absorb health in health potion section), and most of the dragon age spells defaulted to 'other'. However, the hemomancy spells, seem to have the most trouble. In my first save, they seem to have almost random distribution around the menu, while in my second save they all (even the previously sorted ones) defaulted to 'other'. So. My question, finally, and I'm sorry for the long preamble. Is this issue more likely to be related to the error code, or the multiple different spell mods not using friendly keywords? Or, is there some other third (or more-th) thing I'm not accounting for? Is the fix for this as simple as typing the spell names as keywords into the preferred list with mod open in a notepad? And, barring those answers, is some form of update possible? I know it's a long shot, having been a couple years since the previous comment here. All in all, it aint even that deep, and my mass of rubberbands and duct tape that is modded skyrim is still well-within "just works" conditions, and I'm still having a blast playing--especially now that I can easily put a whole library's worth of spells in my favorites menu to use on the fly.
Hello, glad you find this mod useful! Firstly, the error from skyui should be fixed when you uncheck the favorite menu option in the skyui mcm. This fix should work whether you use regular skyui or any UI reskin (I mean no error when opening the categorized favorite menu and it should be properly displayed). If you still have an error after having unchecked the option in the skyui mcm, you likely have another mod or problem that is causing it somehow.
Secondly, my config is only compatible with the dlcs, the creation club, apocalypse, arcanum, ordinator and summermyst. Any other spell may or may not display in the correct category, but it is probably not compatible by default. This is totally unrelated to the error message and is just caused by the way the config is written. The categorized favorites mod just detects the name of the spell and puts it in the corresponding category according to the config file. So yes, it is not difficult to add support for a new spell mod, you just need a notepad, but it can be time consuming. Please refer to the config guide if you want to understand how it works, and you can ask me questions. If you want to not have any problem, you can just add all spells one by one in the subcategory you want, it just takes time.
Third, I have no idea why some spells that were previously sorted became unsorted on a new save, unless their name changed. It is not dependant on saves and you don't even need to restart the game to see the effect of your modifications on the config file (after saving it), but just need to reopen the favorite menu.
An update was planned with the help of MasterAskarus to support a lot of new mods but it was abandoned for now. I am building my modlist for 2 years (2350 mods rn!) and I plan to publish an update once I am finished, hopefully in a few months.
I recommend you to at least try to modify the config file by yourself. You can use the updated version on our gitlab which already supports mysticism and a lot of new mods. Just "download source code" in the top right and use the new config file. The subcategories were all changed though, in order to make more sense with all the new spells. If you get a bit comfortable with it and want to help, you can contribute to the project to add support for the mods you've mentionned (which weren't planned to be added), just tell me. Good luck and enjoy :)
Thank you so much for the timely and very helpful response!! I do love the mod, and I refuse to go back to the before-times!
I think I definitely do have some strange interactions among my mods. After some reinstalling, the aforementioned hemomancy sorting issue was solved. I'm still getting the error code (after just now testing the mcm option), But I honestly can't tell if anything is actually going wrong here, practically speaking, after the hemomancy "stabilized" (for lack of a better term, pun not intended but I won't disown it either). I forget which spell exactly, it was just one or two that relocated in the older save (that also didn't start with the same mods, maybe worth noting), and reinstalling hemomancy fixed it. I especially have trouble finding the exact menu issues now, knowing roughly how the unsupported spells should be acting. At least, in the menu. I have a couple of other, also super minor hiccups, this one is just the easiest to identify and conceptualize for me with its handy error code and list quirks.
I will attempt to modify the file on my own, and I will absolutely keep in contact should I get comfortable with it. Just a heads up, I can't really promise I'll get to this in a timely manner, I'm fairly intimidated by the process as a whole and juggle a fairly chaotic schedule, but I've started reading through the config guide, and I more or less understand the core concepts so far. Thanks again, really!!!!
For some reason, Elemental Fury Shout gets sorted into illusion (Hold) but when I open up the config file I don't see Elemental Fury in there I only see it in the Shouts Menu
This is great, thanks. My old menu was sorting by mods as subcategory (in German). - Destruction --Apocalypse --Arcanum --Mysticism
Now I switched to English and need a new menu. Yours is a great base to work with :)
Are you going to update the menu with the new Arcanum and updated Mysticism spells? If not, I'll do it myself and eventually upload the new list when I'm done. I also would like to add - Sacrosanct - Mysticism - Phenderix Magic World - Path of the Anti Mage - Ace Blood Magic - Triumphirate - Shadow Magic
I still don't know if type categories are a good idea. It makes it a lot harder to sort spells from mods and we have to force them into one specific category. When using multiple spell mods using the mods as a subcategory makes sorting a lot easier and won't force us to put spells into any of the categories.
I would like to have the perfect system for a magic favorites menu. So if you are still around you might want to discuss that with me or work togehter with me to update your list :)
dude thank you so much for this, i just have a little request. Can you add mysticism, and arcanum along with CACO. These are mods are heavily used by a lot of the community, along with me as well. It would be really appreciated since Custom Favorites Menu is my favorite. pun intended
I'm happy it is useful! I might but not right now, I'm busy with other stuff and these mods really add a lot of spells. If you really need them now and just don't want to mess with the config, you can send me a list by categories with all the spells you would like and I will gladly add them with your credits. Otherwise I will probably add them later.
So, I've added all spells of Arcanum in the 1.1. Some of them didn't perfectly fit into the subcategories but it should be coherent; tell me if you have a request about it. I will add Mysticism but CACO requires too many changes for the moment. Enjoy! :)
Any chance you could add the wonderful conjuration spells, rings, and amulets from Vigilant SE to this Custom Favorites mod? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/11849
I don't use vigilant but found this list (https://tes-mods.fandom.com/wiki/VIGILANT) I've added all the spells, consumables and weapons from there in the new config that I will publish soon. However, I guess there are more items? I can't find any list in the documentation of the mod. Only the unique items should not be displayed correctly, but I can't find them. If you know all the items of have a complete list it would help a lot, otherwise I can at least publish a compatibility for the spells and the consumables.
I noticed a few odd things: Circlet of Peerless Magicka (vanilla fc029) and Ring of Minor Magicka (vanilla ff7d2) in the Consumables/Magicka section Master Mage Robes of Destruction (vanilla 10d678), Master Robes of Illusion (Summermyst xx053b6f), Necklace of Resist Frost (vanilla fc049) in the Consumables/Fortify/Resist/Cure Potions section. "Shouts" and "Factions" headers do not have colors under "Shouts/Powers"
Nothing vital. Just listing in case you are tracking things.
Thanks a lot for your help! I fixed the conflicts between the apparels and consumables just by swapping their order, it should be fine now. The white colour was intended but I agree it made the overall look not very balanced so I updated it. Thanks again for your report, and enjoy!
Thank you. Looking at the image you posted the headers in Shouts/Powers is more obvious than in my game. I think possibly my ENB is making them all appear to be the same shade of white rather than white and grey.

Will have a look at it.
EDIT: yes, yes it can.
If you want them immediately, you can add them yourself very easily by following the documentation.
