I've been playing with this mod for a little while now but just remembered I hadn't endorsed or commented yet! First off I love this mod, it's very fun to me. I also find it very immersive if you throw the right spin on it, for me I only allowed my chick to have it after she was Archmage because surely no one else should be given such responsibility or something that is magical and can be used for good or evil. It has always worked fine for me, I keep it at the very bottom of my load order just in case because I am almost always trying out new mods. Thanks for this staff and all the work you put into it!
Looks good, will be trying it this evening. Why did you put this under "cheats and god items?" instead of "immersion" or other one of the gameplay or other item categories?
Because I guarantee if I hadn't put it under "cheats and god items", fifty thousand people would be in here complaining that it's a cheat, and how DARE I list it under anything other than a cheat! No, really. I speak from experience, sadly. Lol
Oh well you are right; there are so many self-righteous jackasses in gaming these days ... There is all the difference in the world between the "leet" plus 1000 health ring and a somewhat limited teleportation system, where you have to put effort into getting the materials. In fact since I haven't progressed to that part of the main quest where you have access to the materials - I haven't had a chance to test it, but will report back when I do.Thanks for your efforts.
Quite welcome! And you've decided not to "cheat" to get the staff, which is commendable. It was your choice, just like it's a choice for everyone. Of course during testing I always "cheated" to get the staff. Lol. But that was my choice, too.
Vanilla fast travel can be done to any discovered location, but there are restrictions on when & where you can use it. This on the other hand only travels to a handful of specific locations, however you can do it from anywhere at any time... while in combat, while over encumbered, while in an interior cell, etc.
Exactly. I get tired of backtracking my way out of caves. The adventure is done! Time to leave! Yeah, I know we can just use console commands, but that gets tedious keeping track of location codes. This does it for you! And the customizable locations can be ANY WHERE. Literally. Jump off a cliff and half way down set a customized location. Boom! Now you can always travel back to mid-fall, if that's your thing. Lol
It just makes some of the tedious parts of the game easier. I hate trying to remember exactly WHERE on the map some town is located. Not a problem anymore. Find it once, then just set a customized location. Or what if you need to dump all your loot at BreezeHome, but you are in the middle of a cave? No problem. Teleport directly to in front of your favorite container in BreezeHome, drop your loot, and teleport back to EXACTLY where you were in the cave (LAST)! Ta-da!
Use caution when you fast travel to or from a location the vanilla game does not allow. You may break quests that rely on the triggers associated with transitioning from one portal (door) to another.
True. I just got tired of warning people. I'm not forcing anybody to download or use anything. I make these mods for myself, and decide to share the ones that I think others might find useful. (I have a LOT of unpublished ones that I use only for myself.) So it bothers me not one bit if people download and use something without knowing the dangers. Their problem, they should use their head for thinking, more.
Is it easy to edit the spell has insane cooldown? I love frostfall and disabled fast travel. So is it possible to have the cooldown set to 30-60 days? that would be awesome
I'm not sure that I follow you. You don't want to be able to use the staff except once every 30-60 game days? That's what I'm getting from you, 'cause as it stands there is ZERO cooldown. So you want the cooldown increased to 30-60 days.
If so, the answer is no. I don't cater to "make this more realistic for my unrealistic game" crowd. The ENTIRE game is unrealistic, so I don't really care if something about my mods isn't "realistic" to anybody. Tough blank! Hehe
Thanks man, finally somebody did it. I actually prefer spell version like in mark and recall for original game, so that I don’t have to carry heavy staff. But it is a very good mod, 1 endorsement is yours.
You're welcome. I debated back-n-forth on which way to go, but noticed someone else had already did the spell route. So I did the item route. One solution will never fit everyone, and this one with it's weight and cost to create (and having to find a Staff Enchanter) should make for it being fairly balanced (for those into that sort of thing).
*shrug* All mods are cheating, but this should keep a few more people happy.
Little suggestion to actually remake the interface like this: major cities -> list of cities teleport points; minor settlements -> add teleport to Dragon bridge, Riverwood etc.; and then something like Mark and Recall bookmarks for custom destinations. It would be 4 menu shortcuts in total, this way it would be fair easier and faster to find your destination. If you're talking about "Teleport Spells SSE" they don’t allow to set up custom destinations, and have no menus whatsoever. And for me custom destinations are life because with mods like ineed, better vampires, frostfall etc. you can actually die if you fast travel too much (flow of time), but this is instant, lore friendly, so you can always teleport into your house to stash some stuff, or on top of mountain to enjoy the view, and then back to your quest.
I'll consider it. Thanks for the suggestions, though. I'm not looking to put a lot of time into this, I just needed it for my game and decided to share. But if I decide to put more work into it, I'll absolutely look at your suggestions again. Thanks!
