do i really need the Unofficial Patch to get this mod work properly? The Unofficial Patch changes the language of a lot of things for me, so i would prefer to go without it.
Hello I am having the same issue as other people with the sign post near Helgen missing I don't have Northern roads installed and I have extensively check all my other mods an none of them effect this sign post but it is still missing.
figured it out. It was Skyland AIO. The option to put lanterns to signs poles. I reinstalled Skyland AIO without that option and now the sign pole is there.
I use the Skyland HD Road Signs (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22596) which has a compatibility with this mod and encountered the same issue. Ended up removing the lantern option to fix it. I guess this sign post does not play well with lanterns
could you by any chance unarchive the old se version of point the way? it was useable in vr, which doesn't have creation club content, but now it is completely unusable due to requiring access to files which dont exist.
They do exist though, in the current iteration of the game. Which is what I support. VR is an offshoot based on a 6 year old code branch that will never again be updated by Bethesda. It's not something that's practical for mod authors to keep up with.
Might I ask why you feel the need to "keep up with" it, though? If it's never going to be updated again, why not just make the old version available that works for VR, add a flag that "THIS IS UNSUPPORTED DO NOT ASK FOR SUPPORT", and then just forget about it? You won't have to keep up with it at all at that point.
Because as you might already guess, doing so doesn't help. People already know most mod authors won't support old versions of things, yet they continue to ask despite that.
I can with certainty guarantee you that if I ( or anyone else ) were to keep old versions of stuff available, there would be demands for support that would never cease. Which isn't possible for the grand majority of us who don't have VR rigs to test on.
Everyone goes on and on about how players should be allowed to choose. That's fine. Choose, but accept that your choices have consequences. If that choice means you can't get a certain mod, then that's not the mod author's fault.
The other very important thing that's often ignored is that mod authors ALSO have the right to choose, and instead of being attacked for it, people should respect that.
Hey there. I wanted to report a bug occur on the sign nearby Helgen where the pole is missing and I'm not sure what the cause was. I tries to noclip to see if it was misplaced somewhere else and I cannot find it anywhere. My thought was that It might be a problem between Northern Roads and even though both your mods have been patched twice and work wonderfully but for some reason, this one seems to be here bugging out. So I wanted to know if could you possibly fix it. Or who should I ask for help on this? Like the people making the patches?
Assuming it wasn't some other mod, it was Northern Roads that deleted the signpost.
This should be fixable by simply loading Point The Way after Northern Roads to restore that signpost.
That signpost was originally some distance away from the intersection in vanilla. It's one of the few that PTW moves a significant distance from its origin.
Then that means whatever other mod has moved them is also holding them in either an alias or a script property which makes it impossible to move them back where they belong.
OtaroOyama, and nebulous235, do either of you have Skyland AIO installed?
If so, that's likely the issue. If you chose the option to have lit sign posts and hanging lanterns, then you'll have missing posts when using this mod. Choosing only textures hasn't been an issue between the two mods.
Have you figured out what the conflict was? I'm also having this issue. I'm using Skyland AIO and this sign post is invisible with and without the Point the Way patch for Skyland AIO.
EDIT: The issue was the option for adding lanterns to sign posts in Skyland AIO installation options. Make sure that is unchecked when installing or you'll get some invisible sign posts.

What specifically needs patching?
