I'm sure this will sound like a stupid question, but how do you pick up the bedroll again after putting it down?

When I install the mod it adds 2 new recipes to the tanning rack.  A bedroll that needs leather and a bedroll that needs wolf pelts.
After I craft the bedroll, I go somewhere and drop it.
The bed appears on the ground.
I can "use" the bed by pressing E.
This works and I lay down.
But I don't see any option to pick the bedroll up again. Only E to use. No other options.
    What am I missing? Thanks!

Hold E down until it goes back into your inventory. But this mod is better if you want to give it a shot.

I am beginning a modlist for my new upgrade to SSE, and happened upon this mod.  I have spent the last half hour just reading the comments in this section and I must admit, I am impressed with the mod author, giamel.  It is refreshing to see such a talented author demonstrate such patience and understanding with the community.   Thanks so much!

Thank you for the compliment. You probably caught me on a good day. The other 78% of the time I'm throwing a tantrum and calling people names.

Hi!  I LOVE The idea of this mod, but sadly, after using it for a few months and trying to get around the obvious gender bias I'm rather disappointed.  Here's the issue:

I'm a female player.  I order my follower/husband to sleep and he does so.  His arms are in position like he is holding someone which is great - or so I initially thought.  The problem is that if I use the bedroll, I end up behind him.  I end up with my arms against my body and he ends up holding air!  Does this mod not take into account the gender of the dragonborn?

I'm not a huge fan of political correctness, etc.  However, the inability to be held - or hold my male companion because I happen to be a female protagonist is annoying!  Am I missing something - or have you simply always assumed the users of this mod will be male?  NP - Why not post that expectation (if that's the case)?  So many mods here are obviously for male players who are looking for intimacy with female followers/NPCs - and I understand that it is about pleasing the majority... However (in the words of the prophet, Neil Young), "the times they are a'changing!"!

I want to add that this is a far superior mod (and I love it) as opposed to "Go to Bed" which is required for this mod to function.  The spacing of the actors for intimacy is far better.  I'm not looking for a sex mod...  Intimacy and imagination are far superior!

Honestly, I'd like to recommend this mod.  It's very cool... But its bias is so obvious.  Please let me know if you have the time to change it!  If you aren't inclined to fix the gender bias, I'll tough it out otherwise with my imagination! LOL

If you want the images that led me to my opinion, please feel free to message me.

No ma'am. It most definitely is not gender bias. It is simply a bug. I think it surfaced in one of the Skyrim SE updates. There are suppose to be 2 positions on the bedroll, Positions spooner and spoonee. Who ever occupies which position is left up to the player by which side of the bed they enter. There is no scripting in place to decide which gender assumes which position. Try my other bedroll mod and see if that one works better for you. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/40358.

I can tell you this. Most of the men I've come across prefer to play female characters and I will put it like this... Why run around looking at the back of a male when you can run around looking at the back of a female.

And hear me out... a female identifies with her character, and the typical male (note that I said typical, NOT every) view a character as "his" - e.g. identity vs. ownership.  Thank you for the response!  Sadly, your final statement is a justification I have heard too many times and fits in with what I just said.  I appreciate the candor, but after years of playing MMORPGs I realize that it really means "Mostly Men Online Role Playing Girls"  LOL

I'm not a feminist, just basically a realist and humanist! (most players still talk to me like I'm a guy, and I'm not offended by that LOL) I will continue to try to get the right placement in your mod.  I wish it was easier....

I "always" enter on the "spoonee" side of the bed and end up stepping OVER my husband and spooning him while his arms hug air....  Sucks to be me.  Hope you are still working on an update and a fix to the bug....

I have one question... does your other mod have a requirement for "Go to Bed"?  I didn't notice it, but then, I sometimes miss things.

If you walk into a cafeteria with a friend. You are both going to sit together. In most cases you will move the chairs closer together. That's all these spooning mods do, is move the chairs closer together. There is no female/male designation.  So, Go To Bed is actually not required. However, If you don't use it you will not see your character in 3rd person lay in bed. You will see other NPCs spooning but, by default in Skyrim when the player attempts to to sleep and clicks on a bed the slider pops up and asks "how long would you like to sleep?" once chosen that amount of time passes and the player resumes their activities exactly where they were standing when they clicked on the bed.

I was thinking about what you said. For me playing a male is an ego thing. Ever since I was young I always imagined myself swinging the sword or jumping for safety ETC. I actually lost interest in sports after I or someone close to me was no longer participating in them. Yet, I have a male friend who always plays as a female character and loves watching sports. I chalked it off as an ego vs spectator mentality.

Thanks for the reminder about what "Go to Bed" does.  Sometimes I have a brain-fart and forget things....

It's actually quite nice to see how many men here DO play as men...    The only time I ever play a male character are in games where classes are gender locked!  I usually don't play them long and find a class with most of the same features so I can roll a female!

But as soon as I hear that line about "I'd rather look at a female's ass" I tell them to start playing 1st person so they can look at their follower!

Anyway, this mod will continue to be on my must have list and recommended to my friends - unless I switch to simple single/double bedrolls for all (which I'm going to try shortly)....
    5. (I have to apologize to giamel in advance for the following response... I did not come here to get political, but rather, to simply find out if this mod was ESP-FE or not. Just know that I am not trying to stir up any drama when I say this, but what has been said in some of these messages is so sexist and biased that I simply have to respond. Also, I thank you ahead of time for letting me voice my opinion. I just wasted at least 4 hours of my life writing this message ?)

oldgamerbroad: "Honestly, I'd like to recommend this mod [...] But its bias is so obvious.  Please let me know if you have the time to change it!  If you aren't inclined to fix the gender bias, I'll tough it out otherwise with my imagination! LOL"
oldgamerbroad: "Am I missing something - or have you simply always assumed the users of this mod will be male?  NP - Why not post that expectation (if that's the case)?."

The fact that you were ready to discredit this author's work merely because you PERCEIVED there to be some kind of bias is simply laughable. giamel did not have to publish the mod and has no obligation to cater to anyone. The last thing giamel needs is for you to come here and imply that he/she is sexist by saying that there is a gender bias and to criticize him/her because he/she did not explicitly state that the mod is aimed at all players. If anything, most mods assume that the player's character is female by default.

oldgamerbroad: "[...] a female identifies with her character, and the typical male (note that I said typical, NOT every) view a character as "his" - e.g. identity vs. ownership."

Do you feel good when you say sexist and mean s#*! like this? Why do you feel the need to disrespect men just because we happen to be men? If you cannot see how your statement is inherrently sexist and can be very hurtful to a lot of people, then you should be ashamed. The inclusion of "NOT every [man]" does not in any way make your statement any less immoral and hateful. The implication and message conveyed is still the same; men are misogynistic pigs. The way you speak of men in your posts makes us men seem like soulless vile creatures without any respect for the sovereignty and emotions of other human beings. Stop demonizing men in this way. A man is a person, just like you, with feelings, thoughts, fantasies and ambitions. A lot of men work long hours at shitty jobs. The last thing they need is you imposing your own false assumptions on them.

The saddest thing is that women rarely ask men directly what they think and feel. Instead, they just presume to know what men think and feel in the most arrogant way possible. A lot of women just go to other women instead of asking a man. This only serves to perpetuate these kinds of falsehoods about men. Next time, you should ask a man what he thinks and feels, or better yet, not presume to have the right to speak in any way about how a man thinks and feels since you are not a man yourself.

As it happens, I am a man, and that does not give you the right to discard my opinion or to treat my opinion as any less valid than that of a woman. AND, in my PERSONAL opinion, a character can either be seen as an extension of the player (i.e., a representation of the player in virtual form or a character who in some sense reflects the player's own values) or as an opportunity for the player to put themselves in someone else's shoes. Whether that character is a Conan the Barbarian, super stacked warrior amazon, or a damn dragon with sunglasses, is up to them. I will not presume to know that because I respect other people's integrity and individuality. It is none of my business to criticize others for their personal preferences, even if I do not agree with them.

Moreover, as a man, I am not going to be so arrogant and dumb as to think that I can presume to understand how women think and feel. That is not my territory to comment on. LIKEWISE, it is not your territory - as a woman - to think that you know anything about how a man thinks and feels, for just like how every woman is different from the next, so is every man.

oldgamerbroad: "I order my follower/husband to sleep and he does so."

Just to show you how absurd and extrapolated the things you have said are, I could take this very statement and say that 'the typical female player (note that I say "typical," NOT every) thinks of their in-game husbands as their own property, and order them around like slaves.' Not a fair depiction of female players, is it??

oldgamerbroad: "I'm not a feminist, just basically a realist and humanist!"

You certainly speak as if you were a third wave feminist. Instead of just asking the author if there was some way to switch the NPC and PC positions, you felt the need to not only express your own highly offensive stance on gender politics at length, but to also imply that the author is sexist. Stop spewing all of this hateful nonsense and have some respect for these people. They are the reason we are still playing this game. Show them some love.

      DVAisMYwaifu,

oldgamerbroad and myself took this conversation into Private message which normally i would not do. She was having issues w/ the mod and getting highly frustrated understandably. By the end of our PM conversation she was impressively modding my mod to fit her needs. Your points are absolutely valid and eloquently put I may add and normally I would've immediately taken the (Kill em all and let God sort em out approach). However, this particular time for some odd reason I felt compelled to be patient and take my time and not fly off the handle. Yes, I'm sure her and my world view's are 180 degrees opposite of one another, but now instead of just chalking it off as meeting another a**hole on the internet I made a new friend.

I've been testing this mod in every way I can think of, but I can't get NPCs to actually use the bedroll. I've tried AFT, NFF and MHIYM2. Currently using MHIYM to set follower's home and sleep area to a small cell with only the bedroll in it, but they just won't use it. As far as I can tell, the only way to get them in the bedroll is with something like Go To Bed Addon (deleted from Nexus). I have a copy and it works, but the follower goes to sleep in the air above the bedroll lol.

Before I knew about this mod I tried editing the vanilla bedroll meshes to work like the meshes from your Double Bed mod, but it led to the same floating sleep animation. Sorry for rambling, I really want to get this mod to work, but I'm running out of ideas.

Kinda sounds like a bed mesh is overwriting the spooning bedroll mesh if they are up in the air. Also is this a vanilla type follower you are doing your testing with like jenassa or lidia?

I've been using Jenassa. Only the follower is up in the air, the player is in the correct position. Nothing's overwriting the mesh or animations so I think the problem must be with Go To Bed Add-on's scripts, but I couldn't get anything else to make a follower use a bedroll to confirm. Anyways thanks for the mods and taking time to respond. If I do get it working I'll update the post.

what versions of: skyrim, skse, goto bed & go to bed addon? If i can sync with your vesions, maybe we can solve this. All of this was created on older versions which I haven't upgraded since because Bethesda keeps upgrading which screws up everything. the thing that is odd is AFT should allow you to command the follower to laydown and not get up until you speak to them again.
      .
      EDIT
I just updated everything to the latest versions and all I have to say is Bethesda took a massive dump all over Skryim SE to screw up the modding scene and unless you are attentively updating your mod constantly and keeping up, your mod is bound to get broken with all others. All for the sake of the creation crap store. I'm now left with a pounding headache. SCREW ZENIMAX CORPORATE FILTH.
