Have you ever put chaurus eggs in your pocket and thought, “Gee, wouldn't it be bad if these hatched in there?”
Now YOU can hatch your very own chaurus, and bring it along with you on your adventures! It's as easy as picking up some eggs! Once the eggs have incubated for a little while, you'll have your very own chaurus friend.

About Skitters
Meet your new best friend!
When Skitters hatches, any pet you have with you will get scared and run away! But don't worry, because Skitters will immediately join your party!
Skitters is a tough little buddy, starting life at Level 10 so they can help you on all your adventures! As you get stronger, so does Skitters, growing with you to Level 80!
Skitters is a simple chaurus. They'll happily follow you around and listen to instructions to wait, but they won't trade items with you or take complex commands!
Once in a while, Skitters will molt! You can see if Skitters has molted simply by speaking to them, and pick up the shed chitin!
New in 1.1: You can feed Skitters chaurus snacks to change its form!
When Skitters goes home, they'll run along to Markarth and rest up at Calcelmo's lab.
Compatibility
My Friend Chaurus is lightweight, using only a few forms and scripts. It shouldn't break anything and if it does Skitters is more powerful than I realized.

Q: Legendary edition?
A: In the files! I just use one page for smaller mods to keep things simple.
Q: Is it compatible with...?
A: It should be compatible with literally everything, as long as it doesn't rip out the functions or aliases of the base game's follower dialogue quest.
Q: Skitters isn't in Understone Keep!
A: Did you hatch an egg?
Q: If I already have chaurus eggs in my inventory when I install, will it work?
A: As of 1.1 it should. Otherwise, you'll need to put an egg down and pick it back up to trigger the quest that hatches the egg.
Q: Skitters won't hatch!
A: Skitters should hatch 24 hours after you pick up your first chaurus eggs. You'll need to have at least one in your inventory. If you put your eggs down for some reason, pick them back up and wait another hour or two.
Q: Skitters went missing!
A: Open the console and type XX000D64.moveto player, where XX is the position of this mod in your load order. For example, if looking up Skitters (the Actor form) gets you 0C000D62, use 0C000D64.
Q: Skitters never has any chitin for me.
A: That's because Skitters craves blood! Bring them into plenty of combat, and eventually they'll molt.
Q: What am I supposed to do with all this chitin?
A: This is Skyrim! In Skyrim you have all the freedom to do anything you want with your chitin!
Q: Are Chaurus Snacks compatible with needs mods?
A: Chaurus Snacks are only compatible with Skitters' stomach.
Q: XBox port?
A: Not at the moment. I have no way to test these and prefer not to upload more complex mods to XBox yet.
