I leave this mod active only for your general knowledge and because this method works for most Steam games.

Steam has removed all previous version of skyrim-elder scrolls from the depot.  This 'fix'/tutorial is useless now.  They have closed the door on us.  The game has been enjoyable for years now but is sadly broken beyond repair.  AE is almost ludicrous in its moronic content.  So long Elder Scrolls.  Nothing lasts for ever I guess.  Even the good stuff.

Hey Sthaagg, I keep getting a manifest fail... "Downloading depot manifest...Got CDN auth token for steamcontent.com result: Fail (expires 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM)
    Disconnected from Steam"

I am using the manifest from 20 November 2019.

I have the file downloaded, ive checked that its the correct version using properties, but when I copy over the file skse still reads as the updated version of skyrim and wont launch, when I open skyrims folder again, hovering over the file shows the newest version number not the one I downloaded. I then closed everything, opened skyrims folder, opened the new file folder, copied it over and overwithe the file, closed both folders and when I opened skyrims folder again the file once more showed the newest updats number not the one I downloaded, i did the the same again but deleted the file before pasting the downloaded one in, it still showed the most recent updates number and skse will not launch

Idk if you're still having this issue but try rolling back to a previous SKSE version

Given just how bad AE has completely broken not only regular mods but also ones that actually provide major fixes for the game (SSE Fixes which requires DLLloader), this is a life saver.

The file you are downloading is made by microsoft. They have your login creds anyway

Absolute life saver. Decided to pick Skyrim up again the other day. Really enjoying it.

Sat down to play one night.... stealth update!

Thanks a lot for this guide!

A huge thank you for this! I had disabled auto-updates from Steam, nonetheless - surprise, surprise - Skyrim.exe got updated without no consent whatsoever! This tutorial is a lifesaver, since even the Steam console won't allow rollback to a functional exe.
