Are you sure you are fixing this problem or completely removing swirling effect from the game? which is another thing. So far I know the only fix for it is to tag "No Absorb/No Reflect" for the spell causing it.
There is no documentation of what have been done to these meshes.
Indeed -- the only fix would be to go through every mod and tag the spells accordingly, and I could not figure out a way to do so for every mod that could potentially be the culprit. The best option seemed to be to make the texture invisible, though as a result, you won't be able to see the spell at all. Personally, that seemed to be an acceptable trade off. You are right about the documentation -- I'll add that now. Apologies for the lack of clarity.
A couple days ago, I noticed this super annoying clear swirl showing up in front of several NPC. I had to find a way to get rid of it. But I was still (and still am) building my load order, and testing. Not knowing where it came from, I was going to start disabling many plugins until I could figure out what did this, and then either turn it off, or get rid of the plugin. This idiotic swirl was extremely annoying, and you fixed it with this simple patch. Thank you!
Glad to find this. In the past I've thrown away perfectly good companion mods because I didnt realise this was due to a bug. I figured it was a spell effect that was working as intended, and wondered why anyone would want this. Now I can finally be rid of it.
Thanks for the mod! While vanilla absorb effect looks nice when it works as intended in practice with my mod setup it procs on certain NPCs constantly.
Finally, a fix for that issue with Auriel's Shield! (I use Auriel's Weaponry, and the shield behaves like every other preceding game, absorbing spells. Constant swirl. )
