We have had a number of posts about users experiencing Infinite Loading Screens (ILS) or crashes at the start of their game. The Legacy Official Patches work just fine with either version of Skyrim Special Edition, 1.5.x or 1.6.x. There are several reasons for why crashing and/or ILS at the main screen can occur but these patches are not one of them.
The most common things that can lead to beginning of game crashes/ILS are:
A mismatch between your versions of Skyrim and SKSE /Address Library
SKSE-dependent plugins that are mismatched with your version of SKSE /Address Library.
Mod and patch version mismatches.
Having newer CC content and trying to run it with the older versions of the CC patches. Remember the Legacy CC patches have never been part of these official patches and are posted on a different page!
Running patches/mods that are missing their master files.
Corrupt file downloads.
Note: take the time to confirm your versions of all those things, rather than assume you are on a certain version.
Using Guards Armor Replacer (full version), the armory displays for Windhelm and Eastmarsh activators are reversed, showing the opposite name for each. I thought I had Windhelm by looking at the stand, but I actually had Eastmarsh with a wrong label :p
Are the patches super-optimized or something with the latest update? All my previous patches showed a final size (not download archive size) of 100MB+ in vortex after install, the latest shows 65MB. Of course I could have screwed up something somewhere BIGLY. Just wanted to know.
Nexus says it's 155mb at the moment. Maybe try downloading it again. However I assume after install it would have taken out anything you're not using, so I guess the final size would depend on you.
LOOT doesn't know everything. It needs to be told what is right by Humans. The reality is, Legacy, at this time, does not support the stand alone Dev Avesa mod.
The patch for the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal only shows the Bow of Forgotten Chaos's new model when on display; when equipped and/or in the inventory it still looks like a regular ancient nord bow. I checked in Xedit and it looks like the first person view (can't remember the exact technical name of that line) is still set to 'draugr bow.'
I am aware that you set it to something else; like I said it uses the updated appearance when on display, just not when equipped or in the inventory.
Unless I'm using Xedit wrong, that's not the case. I rechecked the DBM patch in Xedit; the WNAM - 1st Person Model Object line is not set correctly; it shows Draugr bow in this line instead of the ornate redguard bow's model.
There isn't another mod overwriting it; Xedit (DBM Gray Cowl patch) shows no mods overwriting the bow other than the DBM patch, and just to test I moved the patch to the very bottom of my LO; even underneath my bashed patch.
I have a similar but different problem with the Gold/Ornate Scimitar; rather than the vanilla gold scimitar showing when equipped, the entire weapon is just invisible. Xedit shows that it also has the original Golden Scimitar model used in the WNAM line.
Take this with a grain of salt, because again I might be using Xedit wrong; I'm just sharing what I'm seeing. Unless it's normal that the .nif file and the WNAM model don't match, that's what I'm seeing.
I also checked Ocato's Dagger, and that weapon appears correctly in-game, using the Billyro dagger model at all times (inventory, equipped, display.) Checking in Xedit shows that it uses the following in the WNAM line; GC1stpersonocattodagger model.
So Ocato's Dagger apparently uses the proper WNAM model, but the Bow of Forgotten Chaos and Ornate Scimitar do not.
I'm going to check in with Ice about this and see if we even have the proper models for that then. I believe he's the one who changed them to begin with.
Update: If the 1st person meshes exist, they're not currently in the BSA. I'm going to figure out who did this in the first place and if they have them.
Small update: I've setup the bow to be fixed (TIL ground models and FP models can be the same). However the Scimitar is actually setup correctly - if you follow the record we've overridden the static of the FP, so even though it looks the same in the weapon record it's correct. That does not explain why it's being invisible atm. Still working on that.
For v6, the compatibility page says support was removes from Staff of Sheo, due to the author removing their mods from the nexus. Is that a different mod from this one? This link I got from the official patches index.
Is the Grey Cowl of Nocturnal patch compatible with the 10th Anniversary edition they put out recently? Or just the original one? Need to know which one to download.
The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal display in the Dragonborn Hall isn't displaying right. The leaves and bench arent vanishing where the quest display goes. Any idea what could be causing it? Id love to know if its something with my setup or with the mod itself. I've attached an image to show whats going on.
So I'm running Legacy with CACO, and... it looks like CACO replaced the Salmon with a version Legacy isn't accepting. I installed these patches, of course, as well as the CC patches in case it had something to do with CC Fishing, but outside of the console I just can't get a salmon that will go in the tank. Any advice?
Have you been able to use the planters with CACO? For whatever reason my planting works fine in other locations (like Goldenhills) but the planters related to Legacy don't do anything at all when you click on them despite the patch.
So these are 2 different issues here. As far as the Salmon go, that is a question for the Legacy CC patches page.
As for the planters, that is going to be a hearthfire planters record you will need to check in xEdit. It will likely need to be custom patched for your load order.

Thanks for clarifying :)

I've added a note to the compatibility doc.
