Version 2.0: Repackaged all prior updates and options into AIO FOMOD installer

Finally got around to updating the fomod so this will remain the main stable version for the time being unless there are any errors/issues. I have not had the time fully test all the options in the installer so please let me know if there are any problems so I could fix them asap.

Man, these visuals look fantastic! So much want. Would this be useable out of the box for Oldrim, or are you planning to eventually do the conversion?

I don't have oldrim so I can't really do and test a conversion. However, I believe the mesh and textures can be easily converted using Cathedral Assets Optimizer but I'm not sure what needs to be changed for the plugin aside from changing it from form 44 to form 43.

EDIT: Please refer to the instructions and steps mentioned in this comment chain in regards to porting the mod for use on LE.

I already use it under oldrim.
Meshes converted using SSE NIF Optimizer (LE-output-option)
Textures converted using free Paint.Net with dds-addon
Plugin easily reproduced manually with tes5edit (cause only a few records)

Thanks for your answer! I will see what I can do. I have never converted anything myself, so it'd be a good exercise, no? :P

So, structure. From what I gather from the data file the core mod is all meshes and textures, and the .esp serves to force the loading of a separate mesh file upon casting, if one so decided upon this option? So converting the files in the bsa, if the meshes work out (now that there are tools such as Cathedral that promise they can do it), should already take care of the majority of the process and become playable in and of themselves.

About the .esp, from reading around the consensus seems that .esp's can never be strictly backwards portable due to several records having binary changes. There are ways of having Oldrim recognising the plugin (form44->43) and ignoring additional resulting errors, but that risks game stability. The better option, given the sparse records, would be to rebuild the entire mod in Oldrim CK (or xEdit) by creating a dummy .esp to manually recreate the new Hazard (IceHazard02) and edits to three Impact Effects existing in skyrim.esm. Those are the changes shown to me in xEdit, do they indeed cover what was done?

This is what I plan to do as far as I managed to understand from the process and the contents of the mod. Any thoughts before I attempt?

Ed: well did I get spectacularly sniped there :P But I seem to have been on the right path, so can't complain

I don't know what I seem to be doing wrong, but I can't get a handle on the textures. They do need to be converted, but neither Cathedral nor Ordenador want to work. I can't open them generally, IrFanView just returns decoding errors and my photoshop is standalone so can't take the plug-in. Anyone? (Would take a pm with files)

@Uncl T I'd follow the steps mikraemer mentioned to get it working for oldrim. Not sure why the files wouldn't open with photoshop but I myself use paint.net with dds (BC7) addon so maybe try that instead?

@Uncl T Yup followed mikraemer's steps and got it working for oldrim too, just use paint.net to change the compression to BC3 (DTX5)

The prior steps are easy but how do you go about doing that, precisely?

@swery619 To change the compression using paint.net, do we just open the textures and save as without changing anything? Just wanting to make sure I got the conversion process right.

@Zerospyro Yeah, just open the textures, then hit save as without doing anything, then click save.
It's going to open another window, this is where you change the compression to BC3 (DXT5)

Got the conversions done using TexconvGUI in the end, I'd recommend this programme to anyone else put off by paint.net needing your PC to be slaved to microsoft's updates. Works like a charm now (though I may need to fiddle with ENB a bit).

@Darknetworks, what I did was to load up the existing .esp in Tes5Edit and expand all its categories. For the new option, rightclick the left pane ID then select "copy as new record into" a new plugin. For the three overrides, copy the original skyrim ID as override into the new plug-in, then manually change the values to match the ones in the existing .esp. You should end up with a new and independent .esp somewhere, then just drag it to wherever it is supposed to go. (in MO, from overwrite to the left pane installation of Arctic)

Man, I don't know what happened, but the new impact textures just aren't showing up for me. The meshes work, though, bizarrely enough. I've tried deactivating all my mods, and reinstalling Skyrim, but the vanilla textures aren't being replaced...

The installer is buggy for Vortex, Textures sometimes  are not copying in main folder, so you must put it in manualy, had the same problem, meshes ok but no textures.

Forget to say, in this mod are no impact decals for channeling frost skills, frost and ice are 2 different skills sets for textures,, so you need textures from deadly spell impact, take only the frostimpact texture and put it in your data folder ;) Perhaps the mod author makes an upgrade so the ice effects playing with frost effects.

THANK YOU! Granted, dropping the textures into my Data folder didn't do the trick, but adding the Deadly Impact esp in my load order did.

Is there any way to tone down the brightness? It's completely fine inside, but absolutely blinding outside, both during the night and day. I don't use an ENB, just Obsidian Weathers and Seasons (with the sunlight turned down by 100%) and my lighting mod is RLO. The spells look so gorgeous if I use them inside, but I basically can't see the new look when I cast frost spells outside. I have included screenshots.

EDIT: The excessive brightness is not the fault of Arctic, but of RLO, which causes the spells to give off light.

English: For some reason, when NPS hold an ice spell in their hand, it looks like a LARGE RED RHOMBUS with an exclamation mark. And when NPS uses it, the game crashes on the desktop((( And when Alduin causes a meteor sky, it's pink... and it's
a pity, because as I understand the mod is good.

Аналогичная беда. И при этом, текстуры в архиве с модом почему-то выглядят битыми(при открывании в photoshop с dds plugin они черные). Что за ересь такая..

I can’t for the life of me get this mod to work. When I install, it completely takes away the spike meshes and just the spell impact shows from deadly spell impacts. It doesn’t seem to matter where my esp is high or low in load order I still can’t get this mod to work. I am using refracting icicles and enb lights .98 alpha 2 version. Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

Edit: Not sure what I did, but its working now.

Hey, did you happen to have big red exclamation marks instead of ice magic? a sign inside, and when using the spell, the game collapsed? (And also that when Alduin causes a meteor shower, the sky is pink) If you remember what you did, then tell plz, because I have it stupidly does not work(
