About this mod

Allows you to brawl any human NPC using vanilla brawl system, without adding any dialogue options or changing any vanilla records. Adds a fun little rage visual.

BLIND RAGE

Tired of NPC's mouthing off? Calling your doggo stupid? Guards trash talking you about sweet-rolls? Nazeem trying to shame you cuz he owns a stupid farm? You don't have to take that, fly into a blind rage and beat them unmercifully to teach them a lesson, then steal their gold :)

Maybe you just wanna setup your own Skyrim fight club (first rule of Skyrim fight club, don't talk about Skyrim fight club)

Of course you can't win em all, if some Orc tough guy(or girl) has the brawn to backup their trash talking, they will steal your gold. But don't worry you can steal it back from them when they're not looking, or challenge them again to win some of it back.

What does it actually do though?

Add's the blind rage spell to the player. After activating the spell, you will glow red momentarily and your players face will reflect your rage. You will then have the option to brawl with any living human NPC you are not currently in combat with, within 30 seconds (and isn't a child...sorry if you fantasize about beating your kids this isn't the mod for you)

Important READ first

The mod Uses the vanilla brawl system, the upside is it doesn't edit or conflict with any vanilla brawl quests or dialogue. No new dialogue options are added. Uses a perk entry point to start the brawls. Script only runs after the brawl is started so no performance impact.

The downside is the mod shares most of the same quirks and bugs of the vanilla brawl system (although I have fixed the player and NPC's getting permanently stuck in bleed out when brawls are activated through the spell) and I had to work around the vanilla systems bugs.

for example, this mod does NOT cause the brawl bug, but if you have the brawl bug, it will happen with random brawls. NPC's turning hostile during brawls occasionally etc.

The vanilla brawl system is finicky and I had to deploy a number of fixes to work around it. Maybe some day I'll think about redesigning the brawl system from the ground up...maybe, but for now this seems as stable as Vanilla so I'm good with it.

If you can handle the vanilla brawl system this mod should be just fine for you. Please
READ THE KNOWN ISSUES SECTION to fix any small issues that may arise, especially before reporting any bugs.

Some quick notes on brawls

Losing a brawl causes the NPC to rob you and steal 10% of your gold. Gold is added to the NPC's inventory so you can steal it back. Winning a brawl steals 10% of the NPC's gold. If the player or NPC has below 10 gold total no gold will be stolen (10% of 9 is less than 1).  NPC's will not remain hostile to you afterwards, as again this simply turns on the vanilla brawl system for the NPC temporarily using the same method as Bethesda (just minus the dialogue options). The percentage of gold stolen can be adjusted in the CK, find and change "iPercentage" property value to whatever number you want to reflect as the percentage of gold to be removed. 10 = 10% all the math is done under the hood. Stealing gold for the Player and NPC can be turned on and off. I'm too lazy to make an MCM for a small mod like this so open the console and type the following for the Player or NPC's respectively.

"Set BR_PlayerGold to 0" - turns off Player gold stealing
"Set BR_NPCGold to 0" turns off NPC gold stealing

As some of you know I am semi-retired from modding. I make mods for myself when something annoys me (some NPC called my dog stupid so I decided to make a mod to let me throttle him without consequence) and with my friends when they ask. If you find bugs I will try to fix them where I can.

How to report a bug

Remove ALLLLLLL other mods. I mean it, all of them. Unless you are reporting a conflict you're wasting your time and mine.
Try to repeat the issue
if you can repeat the issue disable blind rage. Go into a vanilla game and start a vanilla brawl, try to repeat the issue. If you CAN'T
Clear your Papryus log. Reactivate Blind Rage and repeat the issue one last time
Post a comment with the issue and as much data as you can in the comments section.
Send me your papyrus log in a pm.
Give me time to respond.

Known issues

As mentioned the mod Shares the same bugs as vanilla brawl quests (does fix some bugs related to vanilla brawl quests though where possible).

  • Not exactly a bug, but a feature to be aware of related to a vanilla bug. You will be unable to Activate objects in the world after winning a brawl. You will need to wait until the NPC gets back up.

  • Now it is possible...occasionally, some NPC will get stuck in a bleed out state in vanilla. I have implemented a fix for the player and NPC's so after 10-20 seconds of being stuck the fix should kick in. If by some slim chance the NPC still doesn't get up, you can try opening the console, clicking on the NPC and typing 'kill' (don't ask me why this works". if the NPC gets up, great you're done. If the NPC dies, open the console again and type 'resurrect' this works 99% of the time. If there are still issues run far away, change cells, or open the console again and type 'EnablePlayerControls' and your controls will be restored. Keep in mind I wrote 10 thousand fixes and safety checks in there so it should almost never happen.

  • Speaking of which if you are brawling an NPC and you cross the line into a new cell, the game engine will end the brawl. This is the Vanilla engine behavior, I have only enhanced it to clear all the settings in my mod for safety (run away and everything hopefully fixes itself).

  • Occasionally you wont be able to start a brawl with an opponent you just brawled with. This is pretty rare now with my latest code. Leave the area for 5 min and come back to fix this.

  • The length of time that a player or NPC stays in bleed out state seems to be totally random. This is the same as vanilla brawl quest and I can't do anything about it without heavily editing the brawl quest which I am not about to touch.

  • There is a harmless error in the papyrus log which can occur after a brawl is ended in some scenarios. The SAME error occurs with vanilla brawls if you end a brawl early by hitting a non combatant or running away. It is due to the vanilla brawl quest (not necessarily the mod) trying to start a specific quest from outside the story manager. As I understand it, according Arthmoor author of the unofficial patches, it is not actually proven to be an error  https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/4129-skyrim-interpreting-papyrus-log-errors/ I have given up on fixing this since a number of vanilla quests (including the vanilla brawl quest) are well known to have this error. The error can  appear in a few ways but is almost always as follows -  Error: DGIntimidateQuest (00047AE6): attempting to start event scoped quest outside of story manager.
