It's a well-made mod, but some details could be improved. The wood textures stands out from the overall texture of vanilla farmhouses, it really doesn't match. The windmill's propeller fans are reversed.
Windmills now snap from horizon to their door's threshold. It's the details that puts a smile on your face as you trek through another well-worn playthrough. Artisanship well done; no technical issues with Dyndolod.
I don't know if anyone has noticed this but the windmill mesh is BACKWARDS. The fan turns counter clockwise, but the fins are constructed to turn clockwise. If you look at the fan from the side, you'll see that the fins are angled the wrong way too. The cloth should get pushed IN by the wind, but the strings and the angle of the fins show that they are getting pushed OUT by the wind. Even if the wind is coming from behind, the fan should still be turng clockwise because of the angle of the fins and the fact that the wooden arms should be ahead of the cloth (leading it) but it's in fact *following* the cloth which is aerodynamically impossible.
To correct this, the mesh should be turned to face the other direction. But would it then turn in the opposite direction? I have no idea. What makes it turn, is that built into the mesh?
After a little experimentation I found this is easy to correct in Nifskope. Open \meshes\architecture\farmhouse\farmhousewindmill\farmhousewindmillfan.nif in Nifskope and...
1. Navigate to BSFadeNode/NiNode/14 BSTriShape and click on that node (the value at the right should say fan_wings) 2. In the Rotation, set the value of Y to -180.00 3. Click on BSFadeNode/NiNode/11 BSTriShape and click on that node (the value at the right should say fan_wood) 4. In the Rotation, set the value of R to 17.50 5. Save.
Before/after screenshots (I"m only using the fan mesh because I didn't want anything else):
Thanks, person! Just used Nifskope for the first time. Your instructions were very clear, did not get anything stuck in fridge.
btw, I agree with your sentiment about the redesign of the Windmill. I deleted all the meshes accept for the Windmillfan. Can I keep all the textures or do I delete the ones that are not in use anymore?
You can delete the unused ones but there's no reason to do that because they won't conflict with other textures. The 3D series of mods all use meshes that have proprietary paths to their own textures so they don't conflict with the normal textures in the normal paths.
Any moving objects will dissapear when generating DynDOLOD, this has nothing to do with this mod, it's how DynDOLOD decided to handle things, because if moving objects are not disabled, they will instead pop out when you get close and switch from LODs to the actual meshes. The same happens with waterwheels on lumber mills for example.
ummm... I use DynDOLOD according to Lexy's guide and my windmill fans work just fine from a distance. When I say from a distance, I mean clear across the valley. I can see Solitude's windmill turning just fine from Dragon Bridge, and I can see the farm windmill east of Whiterun from the top of the hill between Riverwood and Whiterun. BUT I haven't tested this windmill from a distance....
EDIT: this windmill looks just fine using dyndolod.
For those struggling with windmill sails disappearing, after finishing dyndolod generation don't disable dyndolod resources/ any other generation resources (except for the xlodgen resource- you want to disable that). This is what worked for me at least. Edit: also need to do the clean save procedure and/or start a new save. If dyndolod fails to initialize you'll get missing sails and duplicate bard's college windows.

Kudos. Endorsed. Gratitude.

Does it matter which one has priority? Thanks.
The Loreius Farm does not have any Windmill wheel. I use DynDOLOD does this anything have to do with this os is it something else???
