That 8k looks almost identical to 2k in side by side comparison. I can hardly fathom why anyone would use 8k. Probably worth noting they look similar so people don't eat up vram.
Yeah, I hardly go over 4K for any texture even if 8K is an option. GPU can handle it, it's just bad practice since the visual difference on a 1440 monitor is pretty much non-existent. Heck, it's almost non-existent between 2k and 4k, but there a lot of times where extra detail is noticed, so I just roll with it.
Its kinda bullshit to go even 4K on Armor textures, if they are well done. 4K and 8K is for big textures like Architecture, Landscape or mountains. And even then, its kinda hard to really notice the diffenrence ingame, if you are not for Screenarchery
This mod is a year old now so I'm not sure if you check the comments here, but I would like to point out that there is an error (on all three resolutions) with the Heavy Armor male cuirass, in that they are exact copies of the female cuirass textures, which leads to a fuzzy textured part of the front skirt with flat normal mapping. Additionally, there is supposed to be a metal bar across the top plate of Stalhrim on the chest on the male texture, which is built into the mesh, and is absent on the female texture. Using the female texture on the male mesh creates a sudden ledge in the middle of the ice texture where the metal bar should be.
If you see this, I do hope you still have all the original files for the male heavy armor cuirass, because while I want to use this texture, the incorrect textures for the male armor (which I play) is a bit disappointing. Your work is by far one of the nicest looking vanilla-friendly sets of textures I've seen, so it's a bit disappointing to have to pass on this one for now, or at least try and fix the texture myself.

There a no really good textures for Stalhrim... only recolors. Not even upscaling like this. Its pretty much the only one that without any quality option.
The 4K is also amazing in the 1st person view, Iam not playing 3rd. The 8K is simply unnecessary work, done to please users like you (that dont understand they cant have benefits of 8K in any current monitor).
@rag1958 You can still see the 8K textures... This is definitely a console peasant quote right here. I play Skyrim on 1080p but the 1K, 2K, 4K and 8K textures are still noticibly different to each other.
