The newest version of this mod replaces all previous versions (both original & Optimized) & includes updated versions of all patches so players will no longer have to choose a version of the mod that aligns with the patches they want to use. All previous versions can still be found in the archive section for anyone that needs to reference them. All credit for this updated version & all the updated patches goes to KhrysINXS, who has been a great help in keeping this mod going, & is now listed as a co-author of the mod.
The Child Adoption System is very buggy & can easily break in SSE, & players may run into problems where the adoption dialogue options or the Dragons Keep dialogue options may not display in game as they should. We have tested this thoroughly & verified that this issue is not caused by this mod, but, you may need to use console commands in order to get things working again. If you run into this issue & need info on how to use these commands, go here.

this looks like a great Suikoden style castle mod where you can gather all your army, followers, children... this really works well for Skyrim over scattered followers I am going to test this soon enough
could you also add support for multiple wives and a dedicated harem room? would also be cool to have a dedicated storage room like this one from Levelers Tower https://i.imgur.com/v0mTYK5.jpeg
"could you also add support for multiple wives and a dedicated harem room?"
This is sort of what the private quarters can be used for. That area has a triple bed, along with 4 more double beds, & one more double bed in it's own separate room. You can fit a dozen followers in there, or 13 if you don't want to sleep there yourself.
I just tested the mod and the location is perfect, the architecture is impressive, but there are far more stuff in there than I wanted. I expected a "Suikoden" type castle, which means it only host characters you have recruited, with maybe a couple of guards. But it has a ton of guards, tons of workers, horses, dogs, even dragons, and gazillons of kids which I never adopted nor wanted. I ran into multiple bugs with kids going insane in the training ground, guard dogs randomly going hostile and attacking me, while being invincible.
Would really love a minimalist version where the Castle has only your personal recruits and no one else. No loot and clutter either, nothing but what you bring in there. Would be more rewarding and fun IMHO.
I was able to send a child I adopted there, but not my followers, Faendal and the Whiterun big sword girl still stick to their usual place when I dismiss them. I have not found a way to get them to stick to the base. Maybe I'm supposed to use third party multiple companions/wives mods and then order the followers/wives to sit down in a chair there?
Yes, you will need to use a follow management mod of your choice to manage your followers. The main purpose of the mod is to have a place to send orphaned kids that you can't or don't want to adopt. It is designed to look like it has always been there & is fully functional, which is why there are already a lot of students, guards, & staff. This mod was designed based on a house mod call Dragons Mount, which does have the smaller amount of NPCs you might be looking for. It should be easy to port for SE use if it hasn't been ported yet. All the NPCs in the Dragons Keep mod should be friendly, unless attacked, & then everyone will probably go after you. If this happens, you can go back to a previous save before they started to aggro. This sometimes happens if you attack any of them by accident - even the dragon.
I'm so glad this is still being worked on! I just started a playthrough with it, and I really liked what I've seen so far (though I only checked the place when testing my LO, I haven't got to it in my actual save). The only thing that bothers me about it seems to be something you are working on, and that is really cool! Thanks for the mod. Endorsed, tracked and voted :)
Yes. The patch I am currently working on basically spins Dragons Keep 180 degrees so the front faces towards Whiterun, & adds the ancient city of Blackmoor to the base of the mountain. This patch will be optional though, so the quest you are asking about will be added as an update to the main mod for those that don't want to use the patch. Along with the quest, this update will also add a new level to the main Keep/Castle that will offer more room for enrolling additional children.
The main focus of the patch is to add in a lot of music. I wanted a place where the kids from the school could perform music, & since I can't do anything simple, it turned into making the city basically the Vegas of Skyrim, minus the gambling.
Here's a couple vids showing the patch developement so far. There's still a lot to do, but they give you a basic idea of how the most complicated parts are coming along:
If you use it, yes. Since the whole castle & many of the landscape pieces will be spun around in the opposite direction, it will probably look pretty weird if it's not updated.
oh man, i remember this mod from a very long time ago, i didn't even know it was being actively updated through the years, but i'm glad to see the upgrades, i remember loving the idea of sending kids to this place, but i remember thinking that i should pay for it as a mechanic so it's not this free school aspect, the dragonborn ends up becoming a billionaire near the end game and has more money than he knows how to deal with, i have various other mods that make it so i can purchase damn near every property in every hold and even tax mods, but non of them feel as fulfilling as the idea of sending orphans to school to become the next generation of mages and wizards to protect skyrim's future, and i like the idea that the dragonborn helps make that future happen with his funds.
anyway i'm probably assuming way to much intent of this mod and i should just download it and check it out and see what has changed.
i should probably thank you for publishing that translation mod, because otherwise i wouldn't have known this mod existed and has been updated after all the years since i last checked it out, so thank you for making and publishing that mod, sure i won't be using your mod because i don't speak a lick of Chinese but because you posted that, it made it easier to find this GEM of a mod through the requirements lol.
I'm not sure why, but the dialogue to send any child to the academy does not appear at all. I had it selected in the MCM, and the regular adopt a child dialogue fires normally for adoptable children, but I don't have an option to send them to dragons keep
It could be a mod conflict or load order issue. Make sure this mod is as low as possible in your load order, & that there are no other mods that could be altering the children in a way that alter their race or changes them from being children. You may also need to also test it with a new game to see if that makes a difference. It shouldn't, but we've been getting a lot of reports that SE has sometimes been messing up the adoption system & this mod uses that to work.
Thanks for the mod, impressive work inside and outside (the fact I could get inside the small castle for children!). With dyndolod this castle is a huge plus ! A small drawback IMO is the fact it's not really built to be a house, more an academy, but I guess that's the point.
I like having a lot of followers that I keep in my homes, but the access to the private suite, then to the master bedroom is too long to be a long term option in a playthrough.
I'm using silverpeak lodge, a bit bugged but has a spell to teleport directly into the master bedroom. Maybe a teleport spell or feature to get directly on the balcony of the master's suite ?
Lacks a direct access to the room and more safes, chests and wardrobes in the master bedroom to storage things. Or maybe a bigger nest then, since the house outside is easier to get, but very few followers can fit there.
And like others say, there are too many people in there ! Oh and they all have the same faces, which is a bit immersive-breaking. This place is running fine without me. I wish you could get in a big abandonned castle and fill it with the people you want yourself (like the BBLS mod). Same for the stables, I wish they were empty, as there are a lots of horse mods. Going home and seeing your horses is great, you can choose the one you prefer...
Adopt children to slowly fill all this empty space, starting with 1, would be lore friendly and an acomplishment in the same time.
Glad you like the mod. Yes, it is first & foremost a way to send orphans to a place where they can live if you can't or don't want to adopt them. So, it will function more like that than as a massive castle player home. That just would not work with the overall theme of the mod. The game cannot handle too many NPCs in one place unless compromises are made. One of the biggest things that eats up memory is having a lot of variety in appearance when you have a lot of NPCs, so since the idea was to have the place looking like a well established school with lots of NPCs already there, compromises were made in the appearances of the children & Guards, so more variety could exist with the named characters & for customization of the children with various children appearance patches.
There will be an update coming that will add in a few more housing choices, but it will be adding even more children & NPCs to the school itself instead of having less. But, I am considering adding some sort of portal system to help with getting around. The horse stable might not even make sense to be where it is currently with the update that is coming, so it may get removed completely & be replaced with a different one in a different location. As far as making it so there are less students & NPCs there, I'm taking that in the opposite directions currently, but anyone that wants to make a patch that makes it so there are a lot less students & NPCs so they can slowly build the school up has my permission to do so. I do think that would kind of be neat to see, but just isn't something I have plans to do. The update I am working on adds in a whole city to the base of the mountain with the school being a major focus that the city was built around, so making the school seem well established makes more sense at this point. I think it could be a great patch for the current version though if anyone wants to make it.
Huh thanks for answering! Well I'll look into your next update then :)
I'm a small modder, not enough skilled to patch this mod. The only thing I could do is remove the npcs, but then I would have no idea how to recruit more for the place, this is far beyong my reach lol
Thanks again for this mod and I will surely enjoy a portal to get faster. And of course as the mod maker you will take the directions you want, but I appreciate the time you take to answer and react with your community.
If this mod is well known, some modders might share my mind, with luck.
Actually, even I would have difficulty doing that. Modding is so diverse that there is still a ton I don't know how to do. But, this was my first mod, so if I can do it, anyone can.
