FYI, if you use ELFX Shadows, this is no longer needed.

Help! I expanded the chunk materials list, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do next.

I'm a complete noob with nifskope. Any help (preferably with pictures) you can give me is great.

works like a charm, thank you for your work! endorsed!

btw: Unofficial Material Fix DOES NOT solve this mesh issue caused by ELFX, so this mod is necessary

Thanks helped, but apart from the Dwemer meshes, there is no sound in other places. In whiterun in the dragon's limit, there are no sounds on some stairs either.

for anyone still searching the culprit after downloading this mod and realising this dosent fix the bug complet;y, it turns out that Enhanced Lights and FX\Meshes\dungeons\dwemer\smroomsdwermsmmid01.nif also has the same problem, smroomsdwermsmmidbot01 is not the only meshe with the wrong material flag.

just go into smroomsdwermsmmid01 and follow the instruction in the mod description

I'll check out that mesh. I didn't realize there was a second one with the same issue.

EDIT: Added with v2 since this mod is supposed to cover all dwemer floors. Thanks for the report.

wow thanks for the quick update.

for some time I was puzzled as to why am I still missing footstep sound in dwemer dungeons despite having this mod, I first though I had some load order conflict ( since I accidentally disabled all my mods and didnt have a backup load order), but looking through the files reveals nothing.
I went ahead and checked all possible related dwemer meshes from dungeon darkness to material fix, and finally found the culprit, it was in ELFX all along

I am rather surprised that from all these downloads no one else reported this issue in nearly 2 years

I've had the issue, it was driving me nuts. I'd just never been able to figure out where it was coming from. Thanks so much for the fix!

I found another defective mesh without sound, the stairs in Dragonsreach:
    Data\meshes\architecture\whiterun\wrinteriors\wrcastle\WRIntCastlePlatStairs01.nif

There are reasons why you can’t just replace such meshes with default ones? I tried to set the default Dwemer floor before I found your fix, there is no visual difference, but the sound appears and it's enough to simply remove the ELFX mesh.

I believe that mesh is already fixed in AOS. I'd recommend downloading that mod.

AOS does not fix meshes. There is only 1 mesh in bsa, some kind of weapon. I have AOS installed and, of course, it does not fix it, since this is not its function. Unofficial Material Fix fixes such bugs for vanilla meshes. But the mesh I specified, as well as the one you fixed, are ELFX meshes.

I fixed the specified mesh according to the instructions from the description page. Thank you for posting information on how to do this.

Looks like one of the more recent updates to AOS removed the mesh fixes, that's too bad.

OMG thank you for this. I spent like 30 minutes relaunching the game and deleting all the ELFX meshesone by one to find out that it was dwermsmmidbot01.nif that was causing the issue, and now I found this. I knew it I should've googled first!
    Thanks again.

As a user of Immersive Sounds, it's easy to notice disparity in footsteps. I immediately noticed this one when I installed ELFX and went to Markarth.

    Thank you for the fix!!

This bug has been bothering me for years (literally) but I've never been able to find the culprit. Thank you!
